I have been using the idea network for almost 8 years. But since last 2 years, it started to give trouble. I was facing the issue of weak network and sometimes no network at all even the idea tower was nearby. I never thought of doing portability to another network. But it made to do the port in reliance Jio network.
Before doing portability I have dialed to customer care, For the first few tries I could not get connected and after many tries got chance to speak to idea care representative Mr. Rakesh on Feb 2nd, 2018 for network issues. He asked me to go nearby idea care office to change the sim card. I went to the Idea care office behind kapodra police station, opposite to banbagate, varachha road, Surat on Monday, Feb 5th, 2018 and they asked me to go to their another branch as they don't provide 4G sim card at that branch. I went to that another branch at motavarachha and after some documentation, they gave me new sim card but my balance Rs.430 on old sim card was gone. I just let it go if it gives better network because I was using this network on international roaming as it operates with China Unicom network in Shanghai and I can do all bank transactions receiving the OTP. But again the same issue. The other problem I started facing was they started deducting Rs.20 every month saying my sim card validity is over and they deducted Rs.20 to extend it for one more month. So, for 3 months they were deducting Rs.20 every month and I could not realize it. Finally, I have done portability to reliance jio mobile operator. which is cheaper than an idea with the best network in India. After all, There are no any cashback schemes for recharge in the idea by any recharge app like phone, free charge, PayTm like they give so many discounts for Reliance Jio recharge.
So, now as it became the worst network, I personally won't recommend you to buy this idea cellular sim card. Their customer service is also very bad.
