Firstly, I'm using an IDEA connection for nearly a year, none of the bill payments have ever been later than the due date. But my credit limit has never increased. Last month, I had GPRS activated on my connection, so cumulative rent increases, hence, with lesser usage I reach my credit limit.


Within 10 days of activation of GPRS my rent & usage reached the credit limit. So IDEA stopped my outgoing local, outgoing STD & GPRS. On 24th December I paid my bill which was due on 4th January, and then on 26th I had to pay another 800 bucks to get my services restored. IDEA restored only my Local outgoing.


I had to request for another 2 days to get the outgoing STD activated. But the real ordeal came to get the GPRS activated.


Between 26th December & 30th December, I made nearly 15 requests to their customer service no. 198. I had not noted the first few service request nos. but then I began to note.

All of the customer service executives I have talked to assured me that they have forwarded my request for reactivation of the GPRS services and that the same would be activated in the next couple of hours.


So much so that when I found the service not working on the evening of 29th, I called up & was assured that the services have been activated at IDEA end but my mobile has to receive fresh settings to access? Why so? I’m using the same handset that I was using 10 days back when IDEA GPRS services were working on my mobile?


30th morning the CC executive told me that there was no request for activation of GPRS so he'll forward a request. The process went throughout the day.


Finally, I got pissed off and 30th evening I called & registered a request to not start my GPRS services because by then I had decided that I'll discontinue this service provider as MNP is in.


Now, the icing on the cake:


31st morning I receive a call from CC saying that it seemed I had made a request for activation of GPRS services on my connection. Do I really want that? In that case Mr. Mohan, the CC, will forward a request and it will be activated in the next couple of hours!


Friends, any of you who has liked the ads by Abhishek Bacchan and wanted to go in for a IDEA connection, please think twice.



        Update as on 1st February 2011:


        My latest bill has arrived for the billing period 20th December 2010 to 19th January 2011, in that I have been charged rental for the GPRS services. When I called up customer care to demand an explanation, the executive was unable to understand my query despite my explaining to him 4 times. So I demanded to speak to his senior. The CC executive put me on hold for 17 minutes & then disconnected the line.


        That's Customer service!
