They are back with a bang “literally”, my favourite prehistoric gang of fur is ready to take on their next big adventure. It all begins when or little Scrat keeps chasing his beloved acorn, in space. Yes, you read it right, we are going to space while still stuck in Palaeolithic age(can it be for real). Scrat being scrat, and his unschooled and chaotic navigation of spaceship leads to chain reaction or chain of accidents(remember continental drift, my Precious). This results into giant asteroids or meteorites hurling towards Earth. One hit and everything is extinct.

Just the one-eyes bat-crazy weasel shows up with an ancient tablet that tells that the World is about to come to an end and comes up with the idea of saving the planet. Now it is up to Buck(Simon Leary), Manny(Ray Romano) and Diego(Denis Leary) to save the Earth and of course their loved ones.

Like all the movie my favourite Scrat is just inches away from his acorn when all the hell breaks loose(no Ice Age movie is complete without him, because he is the reason for all the drama). I lost the Mammoth, I mean, the mammoths have gone boring in this flick. Manny is more worried about his daughter Peaches(Keke Palmer) and her fiancé Julian(Adam DeVine), whom Manny hardly likes. Diego and Shira(Jennifer Lopez) are thinking about starting a family. The two awesome opossums Eddie(Josh Peck) and Crash(Seann William Scott) do not bring any dull moments and keep up the tempt running. Random characters keep popping up along this think storyline like Zen yogi called Shangrila Llama, head of Geotopia.

It’s been five movies now in fourteen years that this movie franchise still running. Only thing that is running this out-of-the-time movie is Scrat and some loony hijinks of Sid and other two guys. But with more character the movie is trying to accommodate everyone and finally loses and building a good plot.

Yes, I know it is a kiddie movie and I am not supposed to dissect it with my grown-up eyes, but brain processes what it sees. And me being a kid(in my head) I love this movie, but this one kind of made me worry and think that it’s about time to let them go. The animated movies can get selected for Best Picture, pros of living in Pixar age. But this movie runs plot less, on a thin thread, noisy, ugly and sounds of sneeze, f*rt and burp(gross). Making a child sit in front of TV for 10 hours, give them sweetened drink and cheese cubes, and it will do the same damage as this movie. I feel harsh while writing this, but truth be told.

There are better movies in animation genre to watch, but as this flick targets this main audience as “kids”, it is watchable once. To laugh at Scrat’s antics, Sid’s clinginess or Diego’s love-stricken heart. Hopefully, the studio doesn’t stretch it much and end it while it is still good.

Oh! Do stay back for post-credits scene.
