The idea of this unexpected surprise was obviously from hubby darling. He booked the table in advance,to avoid the weekend rush. The booking was immediately confirmed via email. It was a 1:30 hr drive from our place. Till I reached the hotel,I had no idea where I was going. So it was a pleasant shock to see the hotel. Valet parking is available there. We were welcomed warmly at the entrance. As it's a 5 star hotel,nothing is there I can complain about. The decor and ambiance was superb.I saw a chocolate boutique,Fabelle on my way to the Italian Restaurant,Ottimo.The lighting arrangement inside the restaurant was very soothing. The chairs are a bit bigger for a small built person like me,but very comfortable indeed. They have a visible wine collection,but for me the most appealing thing was the open kitchen. It's my first visit to such a restaurant,to celebrate my new job,so I was happy on that day. They have a menu which is self-explanatory. It helped us a great deal to understand the dishes. The server boy also was a great help,he explained the ingredients of our choice very well and suggested few things when asked. The chef also paid a visit and informed about the available fresh ingredients,like salmon and prawns. He was so courteous,he even asked if we had some special orders or preferences.Finally we ordered a mushroom minestrone soup, a salmon fillet with vegetables and mashed potatoes and a prawn main course with vegetables and a saffron sauce.Our soup was served first,with some freshly baked rolls. Both were delicious.Had this before also,but it was tastier here. The chef personally served our main courses. The salmon was batter-fried and served with eggplants,zucchini and raisins,along with a creamy mashed potatoes. I loved the perfectly cooked fish. My hubby was very satisfied with his selection. But I loved the sauce the most,served with the prawns.In Bangalore,I never expected any fish to be so fresh,it was just awesome. We were so full after the main course that we couldn't order for any desserts.The billing and payment process was swift. It was a fulfilling experience every part of which we loved very much. Definitely we are going back there,to celebrate our birthdays. I look forward for the next visit,when we are going to explore some more seafood and polenta.
