Took my family out on New Year's Day 2013 (01/01/2013) for the movie "Life of Pi" at Fame Cinemas at Lido Mall for the 3:45 pm show. The ticket booking online was the only good experience I had. When we went to the box office to pick up our tickets, we found that the automated kiosk that dispenses tickets booked online has been completely removed now. Next, 2 of the 4 ticket issuing counters were closed due to "technical problems". I am sure Fame Cinemas can find solutions for such technical problems in a hitech city like Bangalore. But, an effort has to be made!
Since there were only 2 counters "functioning", there was a long queue for both the counters. The purpose of buying tickets online is completely defeated as Fame Cinemas make everybody wait in a queue for at least 30 minutes during peak matinee times.
Next, the person giving out the 3D glasses does not have proper change for the Rs. 50 security deposit that Fame Cinemas collects for all 3D movies. So, there is a long queue for collecting the 3D glasses.
After spending lots of time in queues, you would expect the movie to have started....but movies never start on time at Fame Cinemas.
The final frustration was one more long queue to return the 3D glasses and collect our security deposit. We can only expect the Fame Cinemas staff to learn their lesson and come with enough "change" to give back the security deposit to the customers. But I was totally frustrated to see the staff with just a bunch of Rs. 500 notes. After the customers started yelling, the staff member runs back into the office to get "change".
When we go to a movie with young kids, the time that could be enjoyed with the kids are completely spoiled by these practices that just lacks common sense by Fame Cinemas.
One last word about the quality of snacks at Fame Cinemas at Lido Mall in Bangalore - the pop corn is too salty (almost burns our children's lips) and the aerated drinks at the fountain lacks fizz altogether.
Will avoid Fame Cinemas by all means in the future.
