As am already in iilm gurgaon and quite patriotic to it. but still. My first advice, incase you hav applied at other places like amity, ip univ, delhi univ etc, or given entrance tests else ware, wait for the results!!! as it is, iilm has its interviews(namesake) till the mid if the first sem. and yes, after yor interview, if you are selected(which again you will be..) they ask for a initial amount of the fee - 50, 000 advance.
So if u cleared anywhere else be it better, you are still stuck with iilm.(or else either u dont care cz you r ultra rich I guess, where I still think you cud have made better use of the money...gone shopping or on a vacation or sumthing!..)
so yes..
sum times the college can seem like such a rip off!
sure we have leeds and breadfrd univ collaborations but firstly do confirm what we are registered as?...(rumors has it, iilm z a money makin "tution center" )
the faculty:
firstly you will have to deal with this mid 50's grumpy, wants-to-be-overly-panpered-or-you get-nothig, physically and mentaly deprived lady for all your needs for a class, like a classroom! chalk, computer, music system, teacher!!..lol..chairs, tables, electricity etc etc... but beware about pissig her off cz she'll bad mouth you to every one she comes across in college and wont even help in mid crises situations!
well same teachers(bout a hand full 7 to be precise) are shuffeled between diffrent subects in ditterent semesters. and years ie: no subject specific teacher who has a specific specialization. apart from a few that is... maybe in the finance and marketing department...
they charge in lakhs, but no basic subject specific student books are given, and the lib may hav just a hand full of copies of the reff books, which too we share with the post graduate and mba students. yes, but we do have wi-fi on campus...(thou it z in accessible anywhere on campus..?)
if u loved yor school days n don wana let go, this is the place to be. imagine the college znt even open beyond 8pm MAXIMUM???..ok..ok...9! that too on days when the admin staff would have gone back and u are williong to stay on onli in the corridoors cz they lock the class rooms...
for crist sake we had our colg fest jam session in the evening max till 8 I think! parents - I guess that makes you happy, but then again yor kids will never see what actually colg life means..
and like school days, you cannot issue more than 2 books at a time.. and ooh boy!..for not more than 2-3 days either!!
The co-curricular activities:
are just for name sake. apart from the sports, which is active between the two iilm campuses onli with our equipment begged, borrowed and stolen from the IB WOELD SCHOOL. (AND YEA, ITS A DIFFERENT CASE INCASE THE STUDENTS GET THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT.) but we are thankfull we hav one whole green lawn and basketball court and one badminton-com-vollyball-court or what ever it is provided to us on campus. (we had table tennis tables in the basement once upon a time to play when ever you may like..but not anymore...) the other societies include the debate team, the i.t. marketing team, the editorial society and the dance and drama society.
funded half way by the students them selves. cz the college cannot afford a budget of more that 1000-2000 max even for 8 students! -or professional training like good colleges or institutes do, or dance choreographers either. imagine, the college believes in publicizing itself but don't believe in spending money for it? the idea that activities like these promote the so called college doesn't work with them.
the campus is shared:
we also share the campus with our IB world "school". and hence, we arnt allowed to access half the campus(OUR OWN CAMPUS) coz of the rude gurds who tend to shoo you away...YES LETERALLLY SHOO YOU AWAY AS IF THEY OWNED THE PLACE OR SUMTHING!..(and now they have hired also this monster like ex-army guy who donst know how to treat ladies be it faculty leave alone students!!)
the food:
and yea, apart from the hostellers, and school students, leave alone free lunch despite payin 2-3lakh a year, we arnt even allowed to pay n eat or stand even in and near the lunch room! ok we hav a cafeteria with seperate catering by bikano. but the food quality is not even a quarter as good as the caterer who provides food for the lunch room.
the course:
well the teachers try this level best, but not like the extra ac's, projectors and lighting can inproce their teaching skills? some of the classes can get a bit too boring to attend.
oh I forgot to mention they hav provided us with a MASSIVE parking space, thank you iilm, so that our scooters, bikes and cars stay on campus, also where most of tend to bunk and when we are low on attendance the faculty tends to create this whole drama calling the parents and calling them to college on week days and scaring them, despite not having the authority to seriously detane the students.
anyways, if the student can live with all that, and comes to colg with just one soul purpose of gaining knowledge and grades (yea rite!..) the campus placement are great!..i think? that is, if you have good grades, and you can forget about indian companies picking you cz the colg is not recognized otherwise, and only international companies pick our students...that is if they do..
