IGNOU...very promising name and status...however reality is just the other way round. Thought one day of enrolling into one of the most normal course. I guess that was when my nightmare started off. It was a 3 year BDP...afterpaying the fees for the first year you are sent study material. One needs to submit assignments related to that which would make 30% of your final grading. One lot called the TMA goes to your study center and a (CMA) computer marking one goes to Delhi. The best part (sarcastically) is that you are given deadlines (dates) to submit them.
To make these assignments one needs to have the set of books and question papers which generally never come on time and once(if you are lucky) it reaches you ...you realize you dont have enough time to the assignment's in a right way...so you rush out..sit late nights and finish it. You then rush to your study center to submit and to the post office to post the CMA.
Once you have managed to do this then you start looking forward to get your marks...which you manage to get is by writing 10 times to Delhi or going and putting up a fight at the study center. It is easier for students who attend college to do so ...but the very purpose of IGNOU...esp when you are working is ....beaten. You have to take half days. leaves or make full rate STD calls to get you those assignment marks. Worst still you who maybe is a trainer in English is marked "JUST PASS" by hte unknown faculty. I then asked them to return my checked assignment for me to use it to study further...till day I am waiting. What shocked me was a photocopy of my assignment was seen with a student who was copying everything from that.
Then comes your exam time...if you get the hall ticket ..then your name is not in the list...if both these are there then you are stopped from appearing cause you have not submitted the assignment. The real blow came when I got to know that for appearing for the next year you need to re-instate your admission the previous year...I lost a year.
Being in a profession where we need to be on the move....I went to get a transfer to the region where I was moving out. Like mentioned in the hand out...net and by the office...I carried all the procedures. But to my dismay its going to be a year and my admission stands on the old address..no study material....no assignments ...no exam...Thisregion doesnt accept me..the old region has written me off.....
I guess the only way out for me is to forget my 3 years and get admission in another university....
