Good and useful but not suitable for a large family. For a family of 2 we need to use it once in a day that is pretty reasonable but if one has larger family then 2 times was a day is must. The dishwashers available in market(any brand) are usually very compact and sometimes we feel a need to have bigger dishwasher but I don't think it is commercially available for home use.
So with the available options in the marker, IFB is the good choice and I am using it for past 4 months with ZERO trouble.
Few things that I would like to share that I didn’t know earlier and the sales agent also didn’t have the appropriate answers.
- The IFB dishwasher requires 3 different consumables that is available only through IFB. I am not sure how other dishwasher works. These are
a) Dishwasher Detergent: A detergent powder that needs to be put prior to each wash.
b) Salt: As far as I know used to reduce the salt contents of the water and make the water soft. This comes in a 1 kg box and entire box is emptied at a time. 1 kg salt usually runs for 30 washes. Not using salt results in hard water stains on utensils. There is indicator on console if this needs a refill.
c) Rinse Aid Liquid: Its small bottle of liquid and the dish washer needs to be filled with 1 bottle after approx 30 washes. There is indicator on console if this needs a refill.
The above items come with a cost and NOT available in open market. The only option is to get through IFB that too on the MRP. It is there monopoly and they don’t give discount even if you buy in bulk. May be there strategy is that if a person using a “Dishwasher” in India is capable to spend 25K to buy the one, they may not mind paying 200-300 bucks on consumable that might run for a month for a family of 2.
The items that are sparklingly cleaned includes glassware, peelers, greasy spoons/spatulas, Tupperware items, non stick cookware, melamine dinner set.
The items that are cleaned properly but sometimes(very rare) need to re-washed includes steel plates/vessels. But this does not mean that steal items cannot be used in dishwasher. We use it regularly.
The items that can be cleaned only on the highest level of wash(this includes more hot water and more time) includes vessel use for cooking rice, Indian style food(that includes turmeric), boiled milk/tea pans. Sometimes its better to lightly brush these items once to have better cleaning. The drawback is, on a high power wash is not recommended to was glass ware and plastic items.
Meals used plates kept for 2-3 days are easily cleaned.
Only high quality plastic items should be used as the dishwasher uses hot water for cleaning. Usually the microwave safe plastic items should be safe f used in dishwasher. This is from my personal experience, I have not read it anywhere.
It is easy to keep many small/big plates, spoons as there is a place holder for the same. Cups and glasses are also not much issue but due to limited space if we keep few bigger vessels or container it is easy to run out of space.
Please expect a slight increase in your monthly electricity bill approx 100 – 200 per month depending on family size / number of washes.
