Agenda: Making you aware about new trick used by ICICI Lombard executives to purchase their health policy w/o even letting you know.
How they do it:: Since I'm already a icici credit card (cc) holder of icici, lombard guys got my contact details. The executive told me in a very quick manner that i've been selected for their family package free of cost. (This sentence was said very quickly but fortunately I picked it.) Then she started asking me to confirm my mailing address as according to them they tried to send me this package twice before but no-one was found at the door (complete bluff !!).
So after telling this reason, she asked me to confirm my mailing add (i was feeling ok till now)... I told her my add. Again she asked me to confirm my cc no/expiry date/issue date.... (now here I got suspicious). I asked her why do you need this confirmation suddenly?? Now, she told me that they are trying to send family package. I asked whats in this package and I haven't applied for anything.
She told me ' Sir, you will get 4 lacs of rupees free for paying in hospitals etc etc..for all your family and you don't need to pay anything at all" . I got it that they are trying to sell me unsolicitedly their health insurance policy. I asked "is it insurance policy" to which she replied 'yes'. I said 'I'm not interested. Right after my answer, she hanged the call before I could.
Analysis: 1) Now lombard guys want to pass on the policy w/o even giving you a hint.
2) They do not want the customer to know they what are they sending..... veiling it by the
name 'family package'. It could be named anything for anyone. Depends upon who
picks up or who doesn't.
3) If they were genuinely interested in sending me some package which was not any
health/insurance policy, executive should have tried to convince me the difference abt
what I was thinking and what they were delievering. But since this didn't happened I
infer they were making fool out of me.
4) I insisted her a lot to tell me the details abt this package ( i've supppressed some
details from my conversation with the executive, so that I mention only imp points).
So I guess not askingthe details from them is their keypointto fool you.
Finally, i'm happy that I saved myself from one of their hitting-bulls-eye trick :)
