Before coming to the states, I went ahead and bought this Student Medical Insurance, looking at the benefits, after coming here I had to go to the Dr and get treatment done, which cost me 45$, and so I get a bill from the hospital I was treated for the amount to be paid, I wasn't sure what to do, So I call the ICICI LOMBARD, and as usual the line never went thru, so I had to leave a voice mail and they call me back after an hour .
So as I discuss with the customer service guy who was from the claims dept , he tells me that for every visit I make with the Dr, if the amount is less than 100$ I would have to pay it from my pocket, only if the amount is more than 100$ I could file a claim! Seriously such a pain!
And even to get your claim processed ( if your total bill is more than 100$) you would have to send all the original documents you have ( Bills, medical reports) to Mumbai from states! Now this part is even more miserable! How can they expect a student to keep spending all this money on postal services ???? Its truly not a wise idea for students to go with policy. I don't recommend this at all.
