Chotabhai Centre, Nungambakkam High Road ICICI Lombard Insurance office is place everyone has to avoid. I wanted to renew my bike insurance. They are located in the 3rd floor services by 1930s model lift. I went there in the morning around 10am. Met a female who was sitting at the reception. Later came to know that she is the customer service agent.
Her name is Mercy and she has no mercy towards the customers. She first wanted my bike to be inspected and said she will charge 150 for that. So she sent me to the ground floor. After it was done. She ordered me to give a photocopy of my old insurance and RC book. I asked her if they have any photocopier? She never bothered to reply me. I went down to take a photocopy. The lift never came to my help. Then when I asked the payment, she said she will not give reciept for cash. Hang on!
Even a roadside shop gives you a reciept if you pay cash. But not ICICI Lombard. I told ill pay by cheque. So I went home 8kms away. And when I came back to give the cheque, I asked her how much it is. She replied with her eyes, gestering me. I didnt understand. Later she opened her mouth to tell that she had already written it in the reverse of my old insurance document. Oh ok! thats what the eyes meant! I asked for a staple but she just got my papers along with the cheque and threw it somewhere in her desk along with other piles of paper. When I asked, when I will get it, she said, you will get it. I insisted and raised my voice, she replied monday.
If the customer service officer is of this attitude, what kind of customer service can I expect from this branch. Guess Miss Mercy must be named as Customer Terror Officer.
Then there was this female near her. She is Miss World 2007. Ya right! She is the receptionist. She is always on the corporate phone on a personal call 90% of the time, giggling and laughing, twisting and turning, but never bothered to care about the huge que waiting to be attended. I got so frustrated. I asked her for the feedback form. With great hesitation she pulled her ears away from the fone and told me to get it from the despatch. Despatch is another Joke. They never knew what the feedback form is and asked it to collect it from the reception. They were juggling me around. But I never dismissed the idea of writing about them. The receptionist told me to write in a blank paper. I insisted on a feedback form.
Then with greatest of the great hesitation our Miss World took the form from under her desk and gave it to Me. Dunno if they would ever care to open that suggestion box. If the employees are like this I dunno what the attitude of the managers would be. Guess it will be the same. They are not gonna improve, so lets better avoid them. Go for insurance from any other company or atleast any other branch.
Later my bike was insured in my father's name, but thats altogether a different story.
