ICICI bank is perhaps one of the most hep and visible banks in the city of my residence yet with the pathetic service and the overaggressive marketing they are destroying more value than they could possibly create with their services. ''As long as the bottom lines look okay who cares about the customers'' seems to be the attitude. My experience with all entities with ICICI in their name has been at best distressing and at worst irritating to the point of revulsion.


I was approached by a DSA for a credit card, that?s where the story began... As it was free I was lured into accepting it. The card took all of 28 days to arrive after they did the routine verification, which included 3 phone calls to my office no. The card arrived without the ATM pin no which I was told had been mailed to my home address never to be seen again. I asked them to resend it... At which I received a form for a new credit card... I again asked them to send the pin which came almost a week later It had been almost 3 weeks since the arrival of the card itself which I had refrained from using because I was unhappy with the credit limit given (equal to my monthly salary. I have 4 times as much credit limit on my other card)... Not to be cowed down ICICI call center started calling up again and again reminding me of the benefits of being a card member and what all I can avail since I have the great card from the great bank...


I made my biggest mistake to date when I decided to approach ICICI bank for a demat account on my friends' advise (to err once is human but to do it again is a sin - I've learnt it the hard way) I made my third mistake by giving them my mobile no. Whereupon I was inundated with calls asking for appointments and generally trying to sell something or the other. The worst was yet to come and this was after I was contacted by one executive I was called again by another who tried to sell the same service to me... I politely told the caller that I had already met someone from the bank and that I had the service form... which didn't deter the mighty marketing machinery, almost an hour later I got another call from the call center trying to setup an appointment for the same service/handover of the form. I told the person on the line that I had got the form and wouldn't be interested in meeting the executive again till I have read/filled it. In spite of this I have received 2 more calls asking to set up an appointment and to check (surprise surprise) which branch is it that has delivered the form. I wonder how this bank runs if they don't know what their branches have been doing. I think next time I want to harass someone I will refer them to ICICI bank they are quite competent in that department
