My wife and I are elderly Canadians who are also having a bad experience with ICICI Bank Canada. We are trying to close our investment account and recover our money, but the bank always wastes our time with many silly silly questions, then gives us one excuse after another for why they can't (meaning they won't) do anything for us.
They always say "we are very sorry to hear that., BUT blah blah blah blah blah, " which always means "you lose." Do those words sound familiar? If we can escape from the clutches of these so-called bankers without serious injuries this time, we will never consider having anything to do them again.
An update:our ICICI Bank problem is finally solved. I myself, my wife, and finally both of us together made a series of long phone calls to ICICI Bank Canada. We threatened to report our problems to Canadian banking regulators, to sue them, to lay criminal charges against them, to contact Canadian and Indian embassies, and to spread word of our bad experience through the East Asian community by informing prominent artists, teachers, and other East Asian people whom we know here in Canada and in Asia.
After that ICICI finally heard us. They agreed to close our account and refund our money with interest. Our threats must have been effective. because their cheque was in our mail the next day.
What do we believe now? We will never again deal with ICICI bank. For anyone who has dealings with them, problems seem possible to solve with dogged insistence, extreme rudeness, and making any threats it might be possible to carry out against them. In other words, they seem to understand someone who speaks like a goonda, even if no physical action is taken.
