We set up an account for my son a year or two ago (just thought that he should have an account, where we could save ocassional money!, though itr camne with a clause that a minimum balance of 5000 rupees should be maintained).
Since we did not receive a statement we decided to go to the bank (Chembur, Mumbai). That day when we went to the bank Could we get a statement of our sonsa account? ... a cold response, your son's account is inactive. Why? we ask? You have not operated the account for the last 6 months? Oh my God, but I have been deposting money in his account ... but you did not withdraw .. so it becomes inactive! Give an application to activate the account (frankly, I was not aware that an account is active only when money is withdrawn, may be it makes sense). Can he get an infinity account, No. He doesn't have an ATM card, no internet access, no statements. Not sure how we check his balance!
Even after activation, we have not received a bank statement (need to find time to go to the bank and check). Ofcourse for security reasons, they don't say anything on the email (Good). So to keep things in tab - my son issues me a cheque and I deposit it into my account and then I send the same amount back to his account. Invert ''no Pain no Gain''.
