I approached ICICI Bank, for a personal loan. I have been holding an account with them for more than 12 years. I took a home loan from them and have repaid it within seven years. My salary account is with them. Despite being an old customer, one of their so called executives turned down my request for PL, stating the age as a reason.
I am 55 years old. I have another 5 years of service and can continue till at least 65 if I am interested. It was a very bad poor gesture from the Bank and I am just forced to continue with them because, my salary gets credited with them. The rate of interest is also very high. They remind me of those olden days, Pathans, who used to dish out loans with an exorbitant rate of interest. But the advantage was, there was no paper work and loan amount was very small. The present banks are no better them. When your account shows a healthy balance, phone calls will chase you, asking for investments, insurance, travel and products that would make them more profitable.
We have to be very very careful when dealing with these people.
