ICICI Bank is definitely doing very well with a very large corporate clintale in hand.


But when it comes to giving good services to a stranded retail customer, ICICI will definitely fall flat on face.


Whenever I went to any of their branches to deposit cheques, I was plainly told to drop it in their drop box, and whenever I enquired status of any such cheques, their personnel are prompt to ask ''(1)where did you deposit the cheque?, (2)what was the mode of deposit?'' and on getting the my reply that I had put it in a drop box, then the regular reply used to be ''ok then it must be somewhere in the clearing/collections..''. This used to disturb me & hence I started banking with other private banks & nowhere except IDBI have I faced the same problem.


Once on my visit to Delhi I was handed over an ICICI DD, but it was payable at Mumbai, On depositing only I realized it. But by chance I deposited it in ICICI Cannaught Place Branch, and incidentally the DD was issued from the same ICICI Branch.


As an ICICI account holder I requested the staff there to help me out, as I was somehow stranded & needed to reach Hongkong very next day. Though the DD was issued from the same branch, but was payable at Mumbai, they will not listen to anything. They flatly told me that it will take one week for the DD to get credited.


And it was something very disappointing.


Had it been any other bank, they would have helped me, but not ICICI.


Even their ATM services are not very consumer friendly. And if you call them up, you are kept on hold for very long intervals, worst than Indian Railway Enquiry.


And hence I stopped banking with them, so did many of my friends, who have gone through similar plights.


And now I am very happy banking with other banks.
