The Indian Banking Tiger. Review on ICICI Bank

ICICI Bank has the potential of becoming the Indian Baking Tiger. Already in its short existence of 3 years or so, it has become a significant entity in middle tier banks.

Good things about the bank is that they have very quickly increased the technology width. Thier online services (Infinity) has progressed a great deal from where it started. Infinity came later than CITIBANK online services, but the features provided are better than CITIBANK. The technology they use on the net is the latest and top of the line. Server and connectivity can be improved, but it is also linked with the Indian Technology environment and service providers. My online experience has been quite average, and I have experienced about 10% downtime (I use it quite extensively).

Secondly their ATM network and branch network is quite extensive. It has not become like SBI, but it is quite extensive. Services are quite OK when you compare with the Foreign Banks. In foreign banks your purse matters, and since ICICI serves a middle tier, it pays attention to salaried employees adequately. Servcies are quite OK in the branch.

The range of services offered by ICICI is quite elaborate if you are looking for depth of financial services. Right from all types of loan services, it also include DEMAT services for share buying and selling. I have not availed these services so would not be able to tell about the quality of the service. The online coverage is also quite good for these services. Credit card services are also quite extensive on the net, which includes rewards redemption on the net.

So overall ICICI is a good banking bet, whether just for a savings bank or for relationship Banking
