I have been an ICICI customer for almost 10 years. I moved to Bangalore in 2000 and opened an account with them at their MG Road Branch. I also rented a locker from them to keep my valuables. Since I was new to Bangalore, and I had to get a locker soon I opted for a locker at the same branch. The rent for the locker was Rs. 2000 per year and after signing the standard contract I was on the way.
I then moved to the Whitefield area in 2003 and since MG Road was too far for me I asked the locker to be transferred to the Indiranagar branch. I was told the the Indiranagar branch did not have any empty lockers. So I asked them to close my locker in September 2004 after the rent of Rs. 2000 had been charged to my account in August 2004. The amount was charged to my account despite my letter to ICICI Bank one month in advance that I was surrendering my locker as required by them.
They asked me for my address so that they could send the refund but it has never come despite several follow ups and reminders. I have not had the time to follow up but I am definitely going to raise a stink about it now.
