There are numerous reviews about how ICICI ill-treated its "Existing" floating loan customers in last 2-3 years. This is a fresh reminder to all those who are falling prey to the latest gimmick ICICI has been playing in this space! Be a smart buyer and don't be foolish!
For your information, I took home loan from ICICI in 2004 & home insurance from Lombard. I went for ICICI because they were the fastest to process home loans that time and without bothering much about documentation. I went for floating rate thinking the rates will fall in the years to come, coming under global interest rate pressures(US market offers home loan at 3-4%). But the rates only went up from 7.75% to 12.5% and now settled at 11.5%. All banks screwed existing customers by hiking rates sharply & not dropping them when they should have; but ICICI screwed the existing customers "ROYALLY" by only increasing rate and never really dropping them. The interest rate for existing customers is the highest for ICICI customers till today.
So, fi you are happy thinking that you got the lowest rates from ICICI, be aware your joys are short lived, may be 3 or 6 months at the max. Then ICICI has all the rights to screw your happiness and continue to do so forever until you prepay the loan!
