Worst ''Private'' bank in india. Review on ICICI Bank

I had a couple of weeks back applied to open a savings bank account through one of the marketing executives. At the time of account opening, I had opted for a Debit cum ATM card. The account opening form also stated that I affix my photograph in case I wanted a “Photo Debit Card”.

However a few days later when I received my account information and cheque book et al, I was in for a rude shock when I found that the Debit card I received was not a “Photo Card”. Later on when I approached the call center and even mailed the bank, I was informed that they have stopped issuing “Photo debit cards” long back!

Not only this, the amount of spelling mistakes on the covering letters was enormous. What agitated me further was the fact that the errors in the address details of the first holder was totally different from those of the second holder.(If it was same I could have presumed I may have entered it wrongly in the application form)

The way in which my name was printed on the cheque was another fact that left a lot to be desired.

I was given to understand from their back office staff that I would have to personally hand over the documents to the branch for rectification and they would not accept me couriering the articles to the branch/processing unit.

I even obliged to this and especially took an off from my work to visit your branch at Andheri West on Saturday’9th March’2002. When I approached the bank staff, they asked me to fill in a complaint redressal form and hand over the same along with the cheque book (which they were not sure if they could rectify).

Today almost 1 week later I am yet to find a solution to this problem.

I am even at a loss if I close the account out of frustration as I will loose my charges paid toward 2 Debit cards which I have not been able to use even once.

I am really disgusted at this treatment by the bank personnel and I curse myself for being so adventurous in opening an ICICI Bank account and that too when I have been serviced so beautifully by your their closest competitor HDFC Bank so beautifully since the past few years.

I fail to understand why they promise clients services that do not exist and leave him feeling cheated having no recourse to the long complicated and expensive legal procedures.

I certainly do not reccomend any investor or for that matter even my enemy to even go anywhere near that bank leave aside open an account.

They certainly make banking a displeasure...
