ICICI LOMBARD GENERAL INSURANCE -NO SERVICE

am constrained to forward my complaint against the ICICI Lombard insurance company for my home insurance. The details are as below:


(i) My house was Burgled on 4th Sept 2006 and after the Poice had visited and FIR was filed , I reported to the ICICI Lombard Call centre. I was told that there is a technical problem and I should call later. As I was in distress after the burglary, I called the Branch Phone no given on the policy(011 55310600).I was told that the appraiser will be with me shortly and I should not disturb anything. I waited till 10 pm, no one turned up. I spent the night with all broken locks in my house.


On 5th morning I called up the ICICI Lombard call cenre again and was given a Complaint No 145747 of 5th Sept 2006 and was advised to await the Insurance appraiser. I was also told not to disturb the scene as far as possible. I gave my mobile number so that he can contact me immediately. I got only the front door changed so that I could leave the home and left all other broken doors,locks, wardrobes as they were.


As no one called or visited, I called the call cenre again on the 7th Sept 2006. I told them that I have kept all locks and breakages as they are except the front lock. I was told that the appraiser will certainly come before 5 pm and I should leave it to them.


No one called or visited. I called the call centre again on 9th Sept 2006 and was again advised to wait just 24 hours.The person who responded was Mr ravi. I requested that I should be allowed to fill the claim form. But I was advised that only the appraiser will bring the claim form which I can fill.I can not submit the claim otherwise.


I called again on the 11th Sept ( Mr Salim in call centre) and was advised to wait for just 48 hours .Thre was no result.


I called in vain again on the 13th, 14th and 15 th Sept 2006 and still no one has cared to call,send an appraiser or send a claim form.


It is now 12 days after the burglary.


I request the following:


(i) My complaint may be taken for redressal with the company independent of the claim which I hope I can prefer in future and can be settled on merits.


What are the ICICI LOmbard guidelines for visit of the Appraiser after a serious incident such as theft, burglary or dacoity.


(ii) What are the internal systems and procedures to ensure that such guidelines are followed.


(iii) The company claims as a Logo" All claims settled within 7 days". In my case the comany has not done so depite no fault of mine. What is the liability of the company for giving false declarations.


(iv) Can the IRDA pull up the comany and bar them for giving such slogans tilll their audit in respect of false claims.


(v) The company had asked me to leave the scene undisturbed, which I kept for 7 days. What is the liability of the company towards mental agony and harrassment.
