IBM the accronyme fro Intelligent Business Machine might be the most technologically advanced (as data from IDC says), but when it comes to intelligent business, I think they are continuously drifting behind. If we look at the government sector (in India), govt are the biggest buyers, abd if you just happen to take a peek, you'll face the stark reallity that IBM is totally overshadowed by HP. I personally dont like HP as a machine but it not their machine but their way of marketing their product what have made them the no. 1 in desktop/laptom market. They are intelligent marketter. Last time the IBM was in DGS&D rate-list was in 1995, but HP was and continue to be in that rate-list till now. For information major share of the purchase done in the government are through the DGS&D and guess who sells the largest? Well none other than HP. And why is it so? Because the only NC brand you can get in DGS&D is HP.
The IBM did realise the folly and this year they did came up in DGS&D but only in Desktop and remember desktop for IBM is no longer an IBM machine, it is Lenovo.
But if we look at the server market they are the king.
So let IBM think for a while and hope they will act a little intelligently the next time.
