Like most of you I was also confused when it came to my Second Car. After a lot of searching I finally Decided on I20. I already owned a Santro and Innova. So I decide to upgrade my santro with I20. I can surely say that I have made the correct decision. Well after finalizing i20 I was a bit confused between Petrol and Diesel. Petrol would cost me 6 lacs including 50, 000 discount and on the spot delivery, whereas Diesel there was no Discount and 1.5 months waiting. Diesel was costing me 8 lacs. Well I took a test drive for the Diesel one and immediately decided for the Diesel version. I went for the ASTA model.
I will not go in to the technicalities because it will be available on the web site. I can tell you that there is absolutely No engine noise inside once you close the windows. The pick up is also quite good, because it is actually 1400 cc compared to the 1200 cc in Petrol. I completed 1300 kms in one month and is due for the 1st servicing. I went on a long drive to mahableshwar with family and I got an average of 16.5 kms with full AC & the ghats even before 1st servicing. I am sure after two services the average will come to around 19 -20 kms/litre.
The space inside is good, the illumination on the console is excellent in night time. the best feature I liked is the blue tooth because of which I can speak & listen from the cars speakers while driving handsfree after synchronising my mobile with the cars system. The gears are so smooth that even after driving for so long we get 3rd instead of 1st many times. same with all my friends and my Dad. The steering is also very very smooth.
The one Bad thing about this is that there are no AC ducts in the rear so the people sitting in the back really feel a bit suffocated if the AC blower is not running at full speed, in peak summer. For cooling the people sitting in back the people in front have to freeze. I hope Hyundai corrects this simple problem. The controls on steering wheel are simle fantastic and add to great comfort and convenience while driving. I still have not driven beyond 120 because of the 1st servicing hence cannot comment about speed but I think it should not be a problem. Even now on Mumbai Pune express highway I had problems controlling the speed.
Because I had to drive it at speeds of 80-85 till 1000 kms which is a punishment I think. The breaking is also excellent. Overall I can say it is a good choice. Happy driving to all.
