I10- The perfect small car. Review on Hyundai i10

Ok first of all I would like to tell that before buying this car I have test ridden all the cars of this segment which include indica, spark, zen estilo, palio stile, wagon r, santro, i10 and even swift.First I will tell about other cars and why I choose i10 over them.

1)Tata Indica Xeta

*I drove indica and found it nice.There is huge space inside for a small car which comes along with less price.But though the interiors look ok, the plastics are very cheap.I found that the panel gaps are so big that my finger can go into it. Also I didnt find the position of gear shift knob and the power windows comfortable.So it is a great value for money, but it comes at the cost of cheap interiors and poor quality.

2)Chevrolet Spark*

Spark looks very cute.Even though it looks are small it doesnt feel small when you go inside it.I drove over many potholes but was surprised to find that shock absorbers absorbed it so well. It was even well priced.But as interiors were one of my top priorities I didnt think about spark after test drive because of its dull interiors.

3)Maruti Suzuki Zen estilo, Wagon r*

Zen estilo and wagon r are of the same platform but zen feels as it is an upgrade over wagon r.I had almost decided to take zen estilo because I liked its looks, interiors and was sure about the maruti after sale services.I had test driven zen estilo in the city and found it very nice.But after few days I had got a chance to drive zen estilo of my friend in highway and found that it was not stable.The steering felt to light and the car moved up and down in high speeds.It was dissapointing as even the old zen was better than the new one on highways.

4)Fiat Palio Stile*

Actually we had no plans to take palio but it attracted my attention in the tata showroom.It looks better than indica and even feels better inside.But it is very much underpowered.With only 57 bhp for a car like this is to less.It is very stable on highway and also has huge space.But as I am an enthusiast the less power let me down as even a maruti 800 will beat it in an drag race.

5)Maruti Suzuki Swift

*Swift had everything what I wanted(looks, peppy performance, driving pleasure) but it didnt had the interiors it deserves.The all black old interiors with cheap plastics dont look good as the car does from outside.Overall swift is a great car if one wants only performance, driving pleasure and those sports car looks.But it is a class higher than the other cars and so is the price.

6)Hyundai santro xing*

If i10 had not come I would have definitely taken santro.Its good packaging makes it a very good car.I found it was very peppy in the city and also was stable on highways.Its interiors were of good quality and so was the built.But as i10 was a clear upgrade over the santro it had to be even better than santro.

Finally our choice-Hyundai i-10 magna

The first look of the car made me say 'WOW'.The car looked great from outside.But the main reason I purchased i10 was for its wonderful interiors.The quality standards that are maintained are really very good.One test drive drive was enough for me to decide this car.Now I am driving this car for more than two months and this is what I feel about i10....

Pros:

It looks a generation ahead of the competition.The interior finishing is just great.Even minor things have been taken care inside i10.The position of the gear shift knob is very convinient.All the controls fall easily into hand.The control knobs and all the switches are of good quality and feel very nice while operating them.There is good usage of space(i.e 2 cup holders or bottle holders, 'L" shaped storing space, space to keep mobile and two door pockets are provided).The seat rails are not exposed but are covered with plastic.The instrumentation is very good and it looks great at night when lit up.Tilt steering is also there and the seats are comfortable.Tubeless tires are provided.It has good pickup and great driving pleasure along with good fuel economy(about 17 to 18 km/lit on highways and about 15 km/lit in cities).It is also stable on highways and one fells good control of the car on the road.

Cons:

There are not any major cons but some minor include-The dashboard reflects on the windshield when sun directly falls on it but one gets used to it very quickly.The integrated headrests may be short for tall people.Price is a bit high but you get enough for the price.Fog lamps are not provided in magna model so we had to fit it separately.

So I hope this review will help you to decide the best small car you want but I will definitely recommend i10.It is surely the perfect small car till date and not to forget it is'The Indian Car Of The Year'.
