I just bought an I 10 Sportz last month. I had gone through mouthshut review several times before my purchase and hence want to put my opinion on the car as well. Firstly let me tell you that this is my first car and I am a new driver & owner as well and hence my writeup would not appeal to hard core car buffs.
Initially I had 2 options in mind Wagon R VXi, Santro GLS. But somehow my wife didnot like the Wagon R tall boyish design (she calls it a matchbox, no offence to existing owners). When it came to Santro GLS after initial test drive we felt like going for it. But while on my way back home I realised even a new Santro on the road looks like 5 year old one.
The car has been in market for almost 10 years and now looks too ubiquitous and has no novelty value. Though I neednot say how well it has served the indian public. The next day I went to the dealership again and took a look at I 10 Era which has iRDE engine (same as Santro). I felt that there is no point in going for a I 10 with Santro's engine because then I 10 just becomes a superficial cloak on an old Santro model. I thought about buying I 10 Magna which had Kappa engine (more powerful than iRDE) without compromising on mileage.
But I finally zeroed in on I 10 Sportz because of it Rear Spoiler, Rear Wiper, in built music system (though a top end Soney Xplode would be difinitely better than the factory fitted one), defroster and a few small extra features. I 10 Sportz is 30 - 35 K more than I 10 Magna. I have been driving the car regularly since last 2 weeks and I would say that it is faring extremely well.
Mileage is not very good currently (approx 11 - 12) but that should definitely improve after first service. A/C is powerful with 4 members and engine power doesnot get affected by it (i drive always with A/C on in Hyderabad due to heat & pollution). Music System is just avarage. Suspension is ok.
Driving comfort for a new driver is high, maneuverability is high owing to its compact size and Steering (Electronic is even better than Power steering) is excellent. I havent used defroster till now. Interiors are best in class, some people say that beige interiors reflect on windscreen and affects visibility but it has been of no problem to me. Quality of interior is very very good and the feeling of sitting inside I 10 is absolutely fantastic compared to its contemporaries. I bought the car for 4.7 L and am very happy with the same.
