Hi All,

I have purchased i10 1.1 IRDE in the month of september, 2013. While purchasing all I had in mind was to pickup a car which is reliable and since this was from hyundai and has been around for a while I chose to go for this one. Since, I had to pick this up I had gone through couple of reviews on this and in all the reviews I found that it gives a poor fuel efficiency.

I went to showroom and decided to go for 1.1 Era instead of much spoken Kappa version. Took a test drive and found that the car lags that punch which the 1.2 engine does provide.

I was to drive to office and back home thought of picking up 1.1 Era as the dealer told that you would certailnly get a better fuel efficiency.

This came as a real surprise to me that even after running the vehicle even before the first service I got 20Km per litre on highway. I started taking the car from my workplace that was Gurgaon to Jaipur and even to kota and the car consistently returned similar figures.

Recently I moved to bangalore. Now I get to drive it in neck to neck traffic and still I easily manage 16-17 kmpl with Aircon on all the time as I prefer windows up while driving.

To my astonishment, I have always found people complaining about the fuel efficiency of this car and I am completely content on those grounds. However, I feel the car could have delivered a little more power specially while picking up from second gear on low speeds as it is suppose to be replacing Santro which was the steping stone for Hyundai in India and I still love that car.

Though some say the style of i10 is a bit contemporay and needs to be refreshed I love the way it looks and the interiors are better than any of the cars available in the same segment. It is very comfortable to drive around and gives a cozy feeling. It is suiltable for four grown ups of any size.

It is amazingly stable on highways as I have personally done multiple outstation travels of 500 kms or more one way. I have travelled on worse possible roads like from bundi to Kota in rajasthan. The ground clearence has never been an issue as there are more pot holes than road on the specified route.

Personally I am very happy with the car the drive quality, the cabin space, the interiors and everything. The reason I thought of writing down my opinion is just for the people who are looking for a decent car and might get pushed away thinking about fuel efficiency. If you feel that you dont want a car for just the power and if you are looking for a comfortable commuter for 4-5 people withing and outside the city 1.1 IRDE version is a good buy.

Regards,

Shantanu
