I10 ..... not for me. Review on Hyundai i10

Sorry friends, as this is not a complete i10 review of this car, as I dont own this car.

But I have a few things to share with you, which might be useful for u, if u r going for a purchase.

Actually, I have bought a ZEN estilo last month. Before going for the purchase, I compared Estilo and i10 a lot. Following r the reasons why I didn’t go for i10:

· Firstly my love for estilo’s slanting(monocoque … as they technically say) shape, like matiz. I ve owned a Matiz for past 8 yrs. I have still not sold it as it is doing fine.

· I had two known owners of the considered cars, between them the owner of Estilo seemed more happy with the vehicle. Though the i10 owner couldnt said to be unhappy, but not as confidently happy as estilo owner. Estilo owner was ready to bet that he was getting an average of 16 plus, in city, with mixed AC use, But i10’s figures(according to owner) were nowhere near. This was the biggest factor that made me bend towards estilo. You will be able to gather the same conclusion if u go through the reviews of the 2 cars, even on mouthshut.

· The beige interiors are offered in both the cars. This thing doesn’t fascinate me at all, as it is just for change, not for any betterment. Here also estilo offers a combination of beige and black, whereas in i10 its totally a very light beige, which reflects badly on the windscreen, the same has been complained a lot by many reviewers on mouthshut. As far as I think, beige mania will not be long lived, for interiors black/gray are forever).

· Estilo like wagon R has more compact width, which makes it easier to carry around. Some times on delhi roads a few extra inches become a burden. Some times u have to miss a parking on metro station because of those extra inches of width. So many times u have to pass through two wrongly parked vehicles.

· Estilo has smaller bonnet, so the seating starts earlier thus giving u more leg room and far bigger boot.

· In i10 the gear which pops out from the dashboard, makes it almost impossible for the driver to come out from the left door. This happens frequently(atleast with me), as when I park my car at my home, driver door sticks with the wall, and I ve to come out from the left door.

All my dilemma ended when I saw the limited sports edition of Estilo, which was coming fully loaded with black and silver interiors, front power windows, electronic adjusted rear view mirrors, kenwood double DIN stereo, with four speakers, all in doors, extra sticker job and cosmetic changes, all mud flaps carpet, sporty steering cover, gear lock, 4-year warranty, all bargained for 3.45 lacs on road. Thanx…. the recession and year end discounts.

I’ m driving and enjoying the estilo for a month, with no complaints at all. Its better than expected.

That’s all in my anti i10 review(sorry Hyundai… may be next time), I’ ll be posting a detailed review of my estilo on mouthshut in a day or two. Plz spare some time to read it.

Addendum:

Friends I was lucky that Times of India people picked up my number randomly from the dealers to do an article on Heavy recession discounts. They even took a family pic of mine with the car, printed in the city edition, and made me very popular in neighborhood, frnds and relatives. Isnt it the icing on the cake.
