This is my first review in Mouthsut. This is my first car too. I always refer to mouthshut reviews before I plan to purchase any product. I have gone trhu many reviews in different websites and have concluded with the i10. The review is based on my personal opinion and I believe those who fall in my criteria of car purchase might feel this review cud help them. First my usage is basically for city drive. I go out on long drives hardly once I a month or two months.
I also had budget in my head and therefore purchased i10 Magna 1.2 during Oct 4th 2010. It was the end of the Kappa model reign when I was the final person to get it from Kun Hyundai with freebies like Sony audio set, car seat cover and some more. It costed me 4.64 lakhs on road in Chennai. I was very happy from then till now.Before getting i10 I tested swift, figo, beat, ritz and alto and finally found that everything has one but lacked other and all the goodies was found in the i10 which was my final factor to settle. i10 has excellent space inside and it can easily accommodate 4 adults and a child comfortably.
Good leg room and head room, this is missing in every other car of its segment. The interiors look rich in beige and you definitely will feel best when u r inside the car. The steering and the gear box response are marvelous. When u drive in the city u never get tired and it is very zippy to overtake. A/C effect is good. You have to remember on one thing though, if u travel on long distances frequently then hatchback will be never your choice. I don't point it only on i10, it is for every hatchback but occasional will be ok.
Also I get a mileage of 11kmpl in city with full time AC and 18kmpl on long drives. People used to comment it less. That's wat u get in a petrol car probably 1km more in others but that is not much a difference.
Maintenance free car.Finally my verdict is if u drive less than 30km per day this shud be the car if in case u r in budget less than 5.5 lakhs. If not choose a diesel car and note that diesel cars make noise in the cabin which is very very irritating in the city drive which is not the case with petrol and my i10 makes zero noise making u guess if it is on/off. If u have some more budget till 7lakhs and a petrol car u can chose Honda Jazz, nice one. Hope my review wud help someone in my position of a car search :-)
