Before deciding to buy the Verna Xi I had test driven the Honda City, Ford fiesta and Verna in that order.I always wanted a petrol car as I dont drive so much to do justice to a diesel engine.
To be very frank the pick up of the Verna was the best.It was vey stable at corners and turns.The ground clearence of 170 mm is just perfect for Mumbai roads.The driver seat armrest is a bliss and im addicted to it and just cant drive without it.
It has power windows with time lag, electric ORVMs, keyless entry with alarm etc. all features you would find in a City Gxi for a lakh more than what u spend for the Verna. It is the most well equipped in its class.
*THE DRIVE
*As soon as you floor the accelerator pedal the hundred plus horses under the hood start sprinting and respond very well and in no time the car talks to the wind.You wont even know when and how it will reach the 100kph mark.The gear shift is also very smooth.
*THE COMFORT
The rear seat has enough place to seat 3 people comfortably for a long drive.It handles potholes and road bumps very well(better than the CITY ZX I feel).The driver seat armrest is very comfortable for longer drives and so is the rear seat armrest if two people are seated at the backseat.The driver seat is also height adjustable which enusres the most comfortable drive.The power steering is very light and you will feel as if you are driving a small car.
*THE MILEAGE
Since my Verna has done less than a 1000 kms in just over a month, the mileage is not so great. For the first 800 kms it returned 8-9 kpl with AC in Mumbai city.I am told it improves after the first service which is due next month.
*THE DEALER
I purchased my car from Continental Hyundai at Bandra in Mumbai. Mr.Rohit and Mr. Randhir were very friendly and helpful. I was updated everyday about the delivery status of my car.
*CONCLUSION
If you are looking for a new car go for the Verna as it beats all other cars in the segment hands down.Verna Rocks!
