hyundai verna began its journey in india as a brand new car with ' new ' features while in european and middle eastern nations as the upgraded accent !! I cant comment on rest of the world as I have no means knowing that. that aside I decided to check out the verna before I decide which car to buy inthe C - segment. As you all probably expect I got a very casul bordering on lazy and rude service from the showroom. finally I get him to give me the vehicle for a test drive, both the petrol and diesel versions. Th petrol version is ok ok if if you dont go to the showroom hearing word of mouth of the verna's power. in which case you would be disappointed. The car looks bulky and has street presence though I dont know how many people actually liked the rear end of the vehicle. After the shiny exterior the interior lets you down immediately. my friends I ask you to honestly assess the interiors of its competitors. The verna's is the most basic and plasticky looking of the lot. Till then I thought the fiesta base model had the least colourful interiors. After having a lacklustre ride in the petrol version I took out the diesel version and was instantly impressed by its power and pick up. The cabin is good enough to let the passengers forget its a diesel car but not the driver. The crude vibrations immediately lets you know of the lack of a certain smoothness found in petrol cars. Crude, crude is the word that was constantly repeating itself in my mind while I was driving this vehicle. But I got to be honest with you, the exhilirating power makes you wanna forget the everythin else. The space in the car is nothing great and I personally feel the back seats are not very comfortable. If possible drive an aveo or honda city as soon as you get off this vehicle to feel how better the latter 2 are in terms of comfort of seating and the silence inth cabin!! In terms of maintenance verna is the 2nd costliest regarding spare parts an such the 1st being honda city. Ford fiesta comes after verna as they are putting a check on all their newly released vehicles to get rid of their ' heavy maintenance ' image. The cheapest in maintenance is the aveo and let there be no doubt about that. I dont even wanna talk about the SX4. Even with all these obivious flaws I wouldnt have taken it to much consideration but for the fact that hyundai, being the least favoured brand world wide when compared to its other competitors here such as GM motors, honda , ford and suzuki still commands the premium price here. The base model of the verna contains little compared to what the other stabkes are offering in their base models. Hyundai's Usp abroad is the decent enough cars it provides cheap. Cheap is trhe drivin factor that sells hyundai cars abroad, but not here in India. Here hyundai cars commands prices higher than its competitors just take in example all its models from santro to embera, they are all significantly priced higher than its segment competitors. Still hyundai cars are selling the most here in India more than anywhere else in the world, the only place where people put hyundai in the same bracket as honda GM ford etc etc!!! And I still dont have answer tho that!
