I had test driven many cars before settling for Verna. I test drove honda city, Chevy Aveo, Accent, Scorpio. I was looking for a car which just zooms like a bullet the moment u stamp ur foot on the trigger. I always wanted to buy Scorpio for its sheer road presence and high seating position. I was pretty happy with initial test drive.pickup was great and power was amazing. before going ahead with booking, wanted to do little longer drive around the city .just to get a feel. I took it out and drove for around 2hrs. boy! I found its not easy to drive in city. the clutch is hard[compared to my earlier Santro] what disappointed me was its poor breaking. around 100kmph+ it didnt look stable and also unpredictable breaking made me rethink. with Scorpio test drive experience. I added one more requirement to list. I wanted a car which will stop deterministically when I slam the break no matter what the speed is.

The other cars didnt even match my expectations. So finally its time for Verna diesel test drive.

I took it out on the Bangalore outer ring road. Man! it has superb pickup. u will feel the torque like u feel the initial pull when airplane picks up speed before take-off.  But it was lil sluggish below 2000rpm. and it has very good breaking. pretty stable even at 100+ kmph.

Then I test drove petrol version . Though the torque is lesser compared to diesel variant, it has very good pickup. overtaking is not much a problem and very responsive even at low RPM. The interior looks nice.

Now had to decide between diesel and petrol Verna. after doing lil math on the cost of ownership for 3 years it turned out that petrol scores well.

So finally, I bought my Verna Xi(petrol) and it has been almost an year. Done around 10K kms. Its Pretty good on long drives. driving is effortless. A/C is very good. even with 5 ppl on board you dont feel much a difference in the pickup with A/C on. I recently touched 150kmph on the NICE road. The car was rock solid even at 150+kmph.

I will write a seperate detailed review on my experience with Verna in the last 1year. may be later
