I purchased a Verna Fluidic 1.6 SX carbon grey on 11/11/11, after having test driven almost all cars - Honda City, VW Vento, Ford Fiesta Titanium+, Tata Manza, Fiat Linea, Maruti SX4 and Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios. I was lucky to be working on Hosur road, where almost all car showrooms are at proximity. Nissan Sunny had just entered and Renault had split up with Mahindra.. so I wasn't' sure about their servicing abilities. I went for Verna for its look, features, comfort and drivability. It has very good features like the reverse-assist camera on RVM, bluetooth connectivity, biege interiors, center arm rest, enough room to keep all that you carry, auto-folding side RVMs, alloy wheels.
The price is on the higher side compared to all other cars in the segment, except for Ford Fiesta to which it is almost equal. I have driven about 7000 km in 7 months and I still enjoy driving rather than sitting on the rear seat. The response on the steering is quick, shows this is a very stable vehicle. Pickup is very quick and braking is superb. I have touched 150 kmph on highways and held back myself to go any beyond given the traffic conditions. Verna has the potential to cross this speed.
The engine sound is sporty when you roll down your windows, otherwise it is not heard from inside. Quiet interiors when all windows are rolled up. The mileage is the only thing that bothers me. It gives 9.5 to 10 kmpl in city limits, the lowest being 8.5. In long drives, it has given me 12.5 to 14 kmpl. Just after the first service, the mileage in city limits improved to 11.5, only to fall back within a few days. It feels like I am owning and feeding an elephant, although an elephant cannot run fast.
My experience with the dealer is a story in itself. Please read my other review on the dealer. I have decided not to go to the dealer who sold me as they have the habit of neglecting customers let alone behaving well.
