I bought new fluidic verna 1.6 SX CRDi in white color on 4th sept, 2012 after much deliberation.Although originally I have booked new I gen i20 sportz model but changed my mind at the last minute. Since I had to spent Rs 7.70 for the i20 sportz model, so though of increasing the budget and instead going for the sedan. I have clocked 2500 kms in one month and the feedback is a mixed one. As far as looks are concerned, it is the best in its class.
I have test driven VW vento & Skoda Rapid but somehow couldn't ignore verna which I had driven before the other two cars. I got this beauty for 10.85 lacs without any freebies. Pros: 1. Its looks are smashing, best in this category 2.Engine is very responsive. As previously, I has driven getz prime 1.1 for over 4 yrs, so found verna engine as powerful and responsive 3.Decent features inside the car like reverse parking camera, foldable ORVMs, steering mounted controls. 4.Music system is good with decent sound quality. Cons: 1. Suspension is very soft. However, after its 1st service, there is marked improvement in it. 2.Rear doors are very light. When you close them, seems very delicate. 3.Front bumper is very delicate. 4.Ground clearance is very low.Had to slow down below 10 kms to cross a speed breaker. Although I had taken every precaution to slow down on ever breaker and pot holes, yet it has kissed the speed breakers twice. 5.Center of rear seat is very uncomfortable to sit for long drives.
The rear seat itself is very low and rear passengers may complain about it. 6.The power windows buttons used to glow during night in my getz.But that is not the case in verna. Again there need to be a lamp in the glove box which was again there in getz but absent in verna. Very disappointing 7.Rain sensing wipers and auto head lamps are missing in verna which are present in i20 seems strange. On the whole, verna seems to be a value for money car and till now I m pretty satisfied with its performance barring few niggles..will update after the 2nd service. thanks and safe motoring.
Just got the chrome gear knob in my verna for Rs 1200 interior looks have been enhanced by it.
