At last the horror movie (of buying a car) ended once the car landed home. I decided for Santro for its Tall boy design and its latest matured looks, most importantly city driving and less parking space.
Most of the owners do not complain for what they bought. We can never complain them, cos Im one of them. I've spotted a few glitches in Xing but I do not consider it a major one.
There are 4 editions for this car
XE : Entry level - No power steering
XP : Low Midrange
XG : Midrange featured well
XS : Top end
Of course it depends on what your priority is on the car. If one is looking out for a economy car XP will fit into the budget.
As per the dealer XE has been phased out.
XG goes for its looks and a bit more luxury comfort by adding front power windows.
The ultimate XS is fully loaded with loads of features which I describe below.
Some of the add-ons which I observed in this car (Xing XS)
• Front Head lamp design change which make like a luxury sedan (Just to keep myself happy).
• Rear tail lamp with dual lights and fancy turning indicators.
• Plush upholstery
• Rear Speaker grill which no B-segment car provides. This is to save boot space
• Rear spoiler with LED.
• Seat under tray
• Front and Rear Power windows
• Rear de-fogger.
• Lots of cubby holes to keep mini-electronic gadgets.
• 4+1 seat car, which is common in all santros.
• Front seat with roomy leg space
• Front Fog Lamps
• Central Door Locking
• Indicators
o Seat Belt Warning
o Door & Tailgate Ajar Warning
o Low Fuel Warning
o Parking break alert
• Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
Those were few of the features I could recollect.
Coming to technical specs Xing has :
• Model Designation Hyundai Epsilon Engine
• Configuration In-line 4-cylinder 12-Valve SOHC
• Displacement 1086 cc
• Max. Horsepower 63/5500 ps/rpm
• Front Suspension MacPherson Strut with Stabilizer Bar
• Front Brakes Ventilated Discs
• Overall Length (mm) 3565
• Overall Width (mm) 1525
• Overall Height (mm) 1590
Some safety to mention about the car:
• ABS: . A safety standard across the world, the ABS prevents wheel lock during sudden braking maneuvers, thereby preventing the vehicle from skidding and allows the driver to remain in control of the vehicle, no matter how slippery the surface.
• Central Door Locking (Manual or Remote)
• Cross bar under dash panel
Driving comfort:
A very smooth clutch, very less jerks, as my friends commented. Also the acceleration is excellent. A/C is powerful, but power drops a bit during the overdrive.
Front seat leg room is spacious. Rear seat leg room is a bit tight.
The car is 4+1 seater, but 3+1 is very comfortable. Gear shifts smooth, but we can feel the engine in the gear handle; though this might not be a major concern.
Parking is very easy, where my residence parking lot is small; the car just zips in easily.
Fuel consumption:
Been out for a long journey, where I got 17+ kmpl with AC used for about an hour.
Not bad for highways with a passenger capacity of 4+1.
Power steering is excellent for city rides. 14 kmpl was average depending on the driving condition.
Service:
Service centre was the real good experience I’ve had. Very friendly engineers, with quick response, with the call sheet filled in and signed by their respective managers.
Real classy of service, bravo Hyundai service.
Looks:
Check out the car from front, the Chrome Radiator Grille makes it a real elegant car. This is a saying; “The old duckling has changed to a swan”.
Price:
Of course XP would fit for your budget I call it the economy model,
XG will make you comfortable and still fit in the budget,
XS will give you all the luxury comfort and style. Fully loaded except for a music system.
Coming to the conclusion : I call it an AMAZING car.
