When I bought this car I didn't even think about any other car like wagonR or indica. They are good cars but for me it was santro all the way. The car sells for a good reason. Here is the review of santro Xing erlx XL.
The look of the car is the best in class. Not saying that is a head turner or sexy but it is better than other cars. The paint of the car is very good. It is still shining like new and I am into 5th month. The jewel effect tail lamps looks the best.
The car has a good responsive engine. But it's not meant to be ridden very fast. The engine is almost silky smooth. The car has a top speed of around 140-150 kmph. In city driving overtaking is quite easy provided you are not overtaking a skoda octavia:). At highways I was driving at 120 kmph comfortably without any problems.
The car gave me a mileage of 13kmph with AC on. Decent mileage.
The brakes of the car is very good, no noise from the brakes or any other problems, it's working flawlessly.
The interior is a strong point of this car it is designed very nicely and gives you a nice feel unlike a few other cars. But I think Indica xeta's interiors are now the best in class, they are even better than the santro. The front seats are good for 6'0 tall riders providing ample leg room. Headroom is not too much but wouldn't give you any trouble. Opposite thing in the rear seats though, plenty of head room but cramped for 6'0 tall riders. If you are over 5'9 you are not going to appreciate the leg rom in the rear sets. I was disappointed here. Good for short people though.
Overall the interiors are good but they have to catch up with Indica Xeta.
Cabin noise is fair, not very quite and not very audible either. 7/10 for cabin noise.
The air con works very nicely indeed. Turn it on wait for 5-10 minutes and forget about any hotness. But takes a little time to cool the rear seats though. Slightly noisy at full speed but I think it's quite normal.
Boot space of the car leaves a lot to be desired. The 220 something litres of boot space seems quite less for me. It can accommodate two briefcases with ease. If you don't travel out of your city then it's fine otherwise you'll find the boot space small.
Conclusion
Very good car. But where it lacks is the cramped rear seat otherwise this is the best. And hyundai has very good servicing as well. But there is another car named Tata indica Xeta which has better interiors and a lower price tag, check it out as well. I bought XL model beacuse i'll sell this after a few months and buy another car probably optra. IF you are buying santro for a long period then I would say that go for the top of the line model XO. It's worth it. Best of luck.
