Santro Xing erlX WOW!!! Tremendous. Review on Hyundai Santro Xing eRLX

I am writing a very honest review true to depths of my heart. I had closely monitored Maruti Zen Lxi at my & in laws space. Neither it was trendy nor it was giving any mileage even on highways or mixed of city or high driving. It also deteriorated very fast as compared to only 2years of being brought out of showroom despite of my in-laws take extreme care of the vehicle constantly.

I decided to buy car in March 2005 and had explore every thing from Maruti 800 to Toyota Corolla, though my budget was not suppose to exceed 5lacs. I went through every showroom in Mumbai for every car. Ultimately it came down to

Xing

Swift

Indica

Palio

Somehow palio I was worried about high cost spares and fuel efficiency was very poor. Apart from that Fiat can close down operations at any moment was also monitoring Fiat Italy and there balance sheet.

Indica, though spacious and diesel version in fule efficent has PATHETIC after sales service and you should be ready to sell the car after 1.5 to 2years as by that time it's engine sounds like MINI Truck and have loads of problem, apart from that had heard so many problems from my colleagues, friends about clutch, fuel tank problem, engines etc. Apart from that a lady (wife / sister / mom in our - your family) cannot drive diesel version as it is really very heavy even power steering effect is poor. Due to heavy weight tyres were other big problem. Further TATA's do not expertise in petrol MPFI engine. So before purchase INdica please wait for TURBO DIESEL engine to be introduced in INDICA, FY Kind Information turbo Diesel Engine is already there in Indigo.

Race was narrowed dowd to 2 cars Swift & Santro. Having experienced Maruti Cars I really was not interested in Swift but looks appealed me to have a ride, but then height problem persisted, seat adjustment is only in topend model. Was also a heavy car as compared to Santro and almost same space inside. Apart from that SWIFT had long waiting period and bit high priced. If you are planning to buy a swift go only for TOPEND model, ensure with dealer that colour you select does not fade away in sun.

Ultimately it was SANTRO the KING - XS for me, which I purchased on 20th June 2005, I am surprised by the fuel efficiency it has with mixed of city driving (with AC in and around Borivali / Kandivali) 31 litres of petrol gave me 537km even before first servicing. I had unleaded Petrol from Indian Oil in my Tank.

Ride quality is extremely smooth and engine noise cannot be heard at any point of time in any position in car. Engine has such a good HUMMING sound which is missing in Maruti cars. Suspensions are good as compared to zen and I must say it is quality ride in front and rear seats. Drivers seat is comfortable to my height (6.3fts). Three adults can accomodate comfortably in rear seat. (only area where Indica / Palio scores over Santro).

erLX version has 4 speed AC as compared to previous Santro. AC is really powerfull and cools up very fast in hot summers and specially on red signals gives quick cooling. AC better than Zen / Alto / Indica, but equivalent to Palio

Utility devices like parcel tray under drivers seat, spaces in dash are comfortable to accomodate mobile, important papers, coins, etc. Back view mirror inside car gives day & night vision and avoids strong reflection of ligh on drivers face at night. Santro also has enough space to keep water bottles and other accesories. Rear seats have belts in it for safety which are very helfull for night drive when you travel with kids and parents.

Santro can comfortably accomodate 5 adults and a kid with AC on any gear, though with AC performace of car goes down, but this is common to any car. Car is stable on highway at 90 - 100 speeds with 5 adults and controlling the car is not a problem, This is my experience on mumbai Pune highway.

After sales service is very good and Hyundai dealers give out really good service and there way of selling the car is not about bluffing you and your money. trust this suffice you about this car. I had purchased it from Modi Hyundai in Goregaon they are absolutely good.

Please fit in your car V-KOOL screens on windows, JVC's basic MP3 player with JBL speakers at rear and panasonic speakers at front. Sound quality of this combination is extremely good.

Put your money on this and you would really enjoy it better than any Maruti or Tata car.
