Elantra 220 KMPH. Review on Hyundai New Elantra

It has been 4.5 yrs since I am using Elantra and covered over 75000 KM, I am very satisfied with the car, control on car is too good. I have driven it .... in hills, on snow, dessert, city, highway.

I have driven it upto 200 KMPH on Greater Noida Express way and on way to Jaisalmer. Anything above that speed seems distant dream on Indian roads. If you want to test highest speed of your car, best place to be is Jaisalmer. Go their in peak summer, and there is no risk of accident.

I have touched 50 in 2-3 sec (1st gear), 90 in 6-7 sec (2nd gear), 140 in 13-14 sec (3rd Gear), 180 in 23-25 sec (4th Gear) and as soon as I touched 190 I was so close to greater noida that I had to reduce :).

Control on car is superb, You can take turns at high speed with accuracy in inches. I feel very proud, when I can stop in desert and race full speed (thanks to TCS feature) without worrying about getting caught in soft soil due to tyre spinning at the same place.

I feel very happy, when I can press the brake fully even on snow, with no skid.

Its air quality control is superb, it automatically cuts the air when there is any vehicle in front, there is fould smell, smoke etc. and it automatically starts taking outside are in, when air is fresh outside.

I feel I have got more than I have paid.

Till date only bad thing happened was that .... All 4 tyres burned too fast (within 30, 000 KM). I think it was aligned issue. To my surprise my new Michelin tyre working fine, and there was no requirement of wheel balancing or alignment even after 20000KM.

I am getting average of 9 km/ltr in Gurgaon/ Delhi and 10.5 on highways. One strange thing is that on hills average is about 10.5 almost like Highways. May be because I accerlate too fast & drive around 150 KMPH. Since last 2 years I am staying in a small city (Kurukshetra), here mileage is pathetic, I get around 7.5 KM per litre, because distance are small, normaly I reach my distination within few minutes.

Service center of Hyundai are pathetic, Safdarjung hyundai in gurgaon has too much work, so they dont do quality work for you, these guy every time created problem whereas car was working fine before service, for example like remote stops working, beige interior got black spots of mechanic dress / hands, center mirrors got loosed... NOTE all these were problem created while doing regular servicing at different time. Service center is Kurukshetra is nice one but they don't have any parts of elantra in stock as I am the only one who brings in Elantra to them.

2 yrs back in my review I mentioned only con as "I think it should have a MP3 player and AUX In." But now I have got some more experience, major con is that its many parts are not repairable and are very costly to replace example

If center rear view mirror got loose, You need to pay 15000 to replace it as it can't be fixed.

If your car remote cells (batteries) are weak, you need to pay Rs 4500 to get new remote, as no way you can change the batteries.

Clutch has no way of adjusting, New clutch costed me Rs 18000, A local mechanic can save you many thousands, I saved Rs 15000, by getting center rear view mirrors fixed by mechanic whereas hyundai wanted to replace it. Similarly somebody broke by rear stop light, Hyundai wanted 5000 but mechanic got me a new one including labor for 1300 and it is working fine even after 1 yr.

Now, I am bored with this car... It has been long & lovable journey with it. I went to Merc, BMW, Audi, Nissan, Camry, Skoda Superb.......... I was surprised to see that space in Elantra is more than C class Merc OR 3 series Beemers.

Finally I bought Merc C200 CGI but to my bad luck, the new car got broke down in 3 weeks and It is in workshop. Thank god I didn't sell my Elantra. It is much more reliable than my Mercedes.
