Ok its navratras time ... and I wanna buy a car my budget is around 5ish ... obvious choices were IKON FLAIR / INDIGO / GETZ / SANTRO. Getz being a new super mini was my first prefernence .. when I checked it out in NIMBUS Hyundai (Noida) I found it way better looking than a Santro that was parked next to it and also a Accent ... Accent looked cramped and old .. the Scarlet Red santro parked next to the Getz well look nice but not as nice :)
OK time for a test drive ... I first drove a Santro XS it was umm ... nice ! then I drove the GETZ GLS ... well well well .. it was way better ... and I'm not talkin bout the rubber burning quater mile sprint here ... I'm talkin about the superb ride quality the premium car feel and the supa smooth ride ... and mind u I couldn't hear the freakin engine its just-to-smooth. And being a newly launched car the HEAD TURNING ABILITY is very high.
ok enough of the lame stuff...
Interiors - well I'm 6''1 Tall ... santro's front seat was just bout ok for me ... IKON's steering colum wud jam into my leg and the sitting position was uncomfortable the dealer said he wud provide me a sporty smaller steering of the SXI model for free... the smaller steering was ok .... I mean fitting.
GETZ on the other hand was like LEVIS 501 Purrfect fit :) its got so much space inside that u might think you are driving a much bigger 3 box car. the upholstry on the GLS model was decent and the DASHBOARD has a premium feel to it. Its not rubbery and soft as ssantros but better still ... the brushed silver center console is slightly tilted towards the driver and loox ultra cool and the AC vents are nice and big and they close completely ... AC is a tad noisely ... but not that noticable.. at the back ... I could fit in perfectly without my knees hitting the front seat and mind you the front was completely pushed back.
The back seat is comfortable too ... under thigh support is better than other cars ... the Boot is awesome its big ...and deep... ;) the rear seats can be pushed a lil back for more comfort or pushed in front for more space ... small lil touches like the folding Handles on the roof and cute cubby holes and pockets here n there is nice ... on the whole the fit n finish is excellent.
GLS model comes without ABS and alloys ... they are optional and cost 25k more... the brakes on the non-abs model are very hard something like a wagon-r. But I guess fat 5 spoke aftermarket alloys with low profile tyres would look realy good on GETZ.
ok other than the above mentioned stuff my reason to buy a Getz are
Its a NEW CAR - not many people have it and it will turn heads where ever u go ...
very Spacious / build quality and premium feel.
European looks
Resale value - since this car is new ... if I get it financed for say 5 years ... at the end of the 5 yr finance period GETZ might still command a good resale value... while IKON in 5 years well ... and SANTRO in 5 years might not exist or might have neewer looks ... So from my poiont of view GETZ wud b a intelligent choice
Hyundai brand value - Superb sales and service network.
Proven Design and engine - GETZ was the european can of the year 2002 ... with the same engine specs that its offered in india. Only Problem - The Price ... I'm getting GETZ in NOIDA/ DELHI for a on road price of 5.20L which is expensive for what I'm getting ... if the on road price wud have been 4.75 then it would have been a decent buy. ;)
I'm still debating over an IKON flair - SANTRO XS - INDIGO LX ! lesseee ... ohh I so wanna get a new set of wheels.
