After using Getz for more than 6 months and clocking more than 10, 000 KM I’d like to write next review. I’m definitely happy customer of Getz 1.1 due to its space, fuel efficiency and road handling. People who would like to read detail review can refer to my previous review. This review is on more technical side and targeted towards pain points.
Few things I’d like to clear that can help a lot of people. Some technical reading how to read and what they mean. Getz 1.1 has 1100 CC engine that produces 67 BHP engine and 101 nm Torque. The BHP value helps in quick pickup and top speed. However BHP is not the only parameter that determines the pickup and speed. There are two more important facts A) Your gear ratios B) Your cars weight.
Torque helps in pulling power i.e load carrying capacity. The Getz Prime 1.1 engine has been taken from Santro. The same engine on Santro generates 63 BHP and torque of 89 nm. Getz is heavier by 217 KG and naturally needs more torque.
The car is giving consistent average of 14 KM per Liter in City with AC on/off. The gear ratio on Getz 1.1 is designed to give more fuel efficiency and due to the same car gives a sluggish feeling from 2nd gear onwards. I’m getting a very good average on high way of 17 KM per Liter. Considering the size of car the average is really good.
The Maruti swift on the other hand has better BHP(87), Torque(113NM) has 1300 CC engine but with less fuel efficiency of 10 to 12 KM in City and 14 on Highway. People who would want power and space both can actually opt for swift or Getz 1.3 version that generates 82 BHP and 116 Torque with fuel efficiency of 10 to 12 KM per Liter in city and 14-15 on high way.
Getz prime 1.1 achieves 0-100 in 17 Sec while Getz 1.3 in 14.5 and Maruti swift in 12.9 Sec. On paper the seconds may look very close but the driving experience is far different and gives enormous pleasure to drive quicker car. Just for your reference Maruti 800 achieves 0-100 in 20 Sec.
Now it comes down to every individual to select the car of its own taste and priority.
