Features of this car are just awesome.


I would like to let you guys know about my buying experience with Vinayak Hyundai, Chromepet, Chennai. So that I can save at least few of you.


I wrote below complaint to Hyundai regarding the dealer: I booked Elite I20 Asta Diesel(TN 22 DA 3958) from Vinayak Hyundai, Chromepet, Chennai on 6th July 2015 and got it delivered on 13th July 2015.


I would like to share my experience during sales with you. I tried through your website but there is no Vinayak Hyundai show room displayed in Chennai city.


Vehicle price coated was 941000/- and no discounts were given. I have no complaints about this. I was given bumper to bumper insurance and PVC mat for free.


I have gone for 7L/- loan from SBH and have done the down payment of balance amount on 6th July 2015. While booking, I have paid the amount for my accessories(Seat covers, under body paint, body cover) and also 3yrs extended warranty and told them that I need vehicle to be delivered by 13th July 2015 as I had a vacation planned that weekend.


Later I have requested for front Chrome grill and told the sales guy that I will be paying the amount during vehicle delivery. I got the vehicle delivered on 13th July 2015. Now I would like to list out the issues:


Issue#1:


I told the sales guy(Johnson) that I will be in showroom at 9am on 13th July 2015 to take the delivery of the vehicle. Knowing that showroom itself opens at 9am, I went at 10am. Sales guy was not there and the answer I got was, he went to service station to get the car. Waited there for 1hr 30mins and finally here comes the car. When asked for the late, he says service guys didn't do under body painting and he has got painting done and brought it to the showroom. When asked about 3 year extended warranty, I was told it will be ready in 2-3 days.


Issue#2:


While taking delivery I observed Chrome grill was fixed only for the upper part of the grill and the grill that comes with fog lamps was not having Chrome grill. When asked sales guy was telling that it comes that way. When I told, I don't need it if it comes that way, he spoke to service guys and told me there are Chrome grills for fog lamps grill as well and he asked me to come to service point next day. Also he was saying many customers don't like it that way, in which case he should have asked me before doing it.


Issue#3:


After taking delivery, on 1st day, i.e. for 13th July 2015 vehicle was running fine. On 14th July 2015 while driving I felt 2nd gear is having problem and vehicle was not able to pull in 2nd gear even after complete acceleration. I took it to the service station as I need to get the Chrome grill fixed. Then I showed the problem to the service guys that car is not running in 2nd gear. Service guy ran the car and was saying there is no problem. Sales guy was there with me and he drove the car and accepted there is a problem and he made the service guys understand the issue. Then they were telling me that it is turbo charger that is causing the issue. I left the car in service station and left for office. Evening I again went to service station to talk with service manager(Satish). I asked him why this issue happened when they have done all the testing and delivered the vehicle. He was not able to answer and promised me that he will be giving me another car for time being. As I have a vacation planned that weekend, I told him if my car is not ready in 2 days, I will be taking temporary car for vacation and it will be driven for 2000kms. Next day car was ready:). He was telling some neutral switch was malfunctioning and they got it replaced and everything is fine now. I test drove the car and it was fine.


Issue#4:


Only part of the Chrome grill that comes for Fog lamps is fitted and rest is not fitted yet. I am still asking them for that. I haven't paid the amount for that and told sales guy that I will be paying the amount only when complete grill is fitted.


Issue#5:


While test driving the car, I was told that there is auto lock facility which works when car reaches 40k/h speed. But the truth is I20 Asta in that case any I20 doesn't come with auto lock feature and it comes only with central locking. So sales guy is not having minimum knowledge about the locking functionality. Also while first service I asked service guys to test auto lock feature. It took 2-3hrs for them to know that I20 doesn't come with auto lock. Without minimum knowledge I doubt how they will do service if I give my car for service next time.


Issue#6:


Every time I visit service station, my name and address will be different in bills. Don't know from where they get the details.


Issue#7:


I was told that 9301/- is the amount to be paid for 3yrs extended warranty ie 3rd, 4th, 5th years. So I paid the amount while booking the vehicle. For my surprise today I got to know that 9301/- is only for 3rd year extended warranty and need to pay extra amount for 4th and 5th year extended warranty. Also the amount got changed to 9701/- from 1st July and the sales guy didn't have updated price sheet, so he charged me old amount and wanted me to pay additional 400/-. I didn't agree for that and also requested to return my money back, but they said amount once paid is gone. I have no option other than to take the warranty. They managed to get the warranty for 9301/- itself. But my need was not satisfied as I want extended warranty till 5th year. Also to my surprise sales manager in show room was telling me that to get the extended letter, it takes a max of 60 days. Don't know how these guys are being trained and got placed in show room. They are really torturing customers.


Mail over


After sending the email, I got a call from sales manager, Sajeela that Hyundai has contacted them about the feedback I have sent.


She was literally shouting at me and not trying to understanding the issue. After that I got a mail from her saying that I have understood that I misunderstood the wordings of their sales agent and I am not ok to accept it.


I responded to her saying why should I pay the amount for the mistake their sales agent has done. No response after that and my money is not returned.


Vehicle review


I have driven vehicle for 2000kms in 4 days. In a single day I have driven for 700+kms.


I haven't observed any problem.


Breaking is very nice.


I feel ground clearance is more than 170mm as I can feel good run on bumpy roads.


My previous car ford classic used to surely get hit on those bumpy roads. It has got 165mm GC.


AC is very effective.


Got nearly 21kmpl with AC on full time.


Boot is sufficient for a 4 member family for a week trip.


Side mirrors could be a bit big but sufficient.


Rear camera and sensors are flawless, in fact works great.


Rear seat is spacious and wider. 3 members can sit easily.


Yes, you may feel steering is light. But will get accustomed.


AC slot in dashboard is helpful, to carry injections that need cool environment.


Headlights are sufficient but can be more bright. Feel prob while driving on highway.


Got first service done.
