For years we had those noisy and underpowered diesel cars.people bought them to cut fuel costs due to rising petrol prices and used them more for long distance travel.between all those years and now we had those cars not even inching up beyond the 58 bhp mark.thus making the car expensive to buy, cheaper to run and less exciting to drive.the racket the engine would make also caused people to go for the quieter petrol versions.that horrible truck like noise would just cause a real migrane to start in your head.the drive wasnt really smooth either.

POWER HOUSE-

under the hood the car houses a very different engine from its competitors.the only diesel would be brought out by the Tata company with the siera and the estate etc.. then with the indica.then came the mitsubishi company with the Lancer.after that Ford entered the market with the 1.3 ,1.6 petrol versions and the 1.8 diesel version.then came Maruti's diesel version of the zen and the Esteem.but none of them going above the 60 bhp power mark.then engines had a large capacity but underpowered.then came the hyundai company from korea and stormed into the market with the santro and the accent.

mainly petrol versions were released for the accent but then decided to bring out the diesel version the accent CRDi.at 1600 cc the car gives you an amazing 85 bhp of power to drool over.overtaking competition like ford and maruti the accent Crdi still isnt very popular though.being a diesel engine I guess.but it isnt too bad.the car has a 5 speed transmission and the performance of the engine is delightful.a speedy pickup with a top speed of over 150 kilometers per hour I would find this car way superior than any of the other diesel cars.

EXTERIOR-

the exterior of the car is just the same as the accent petrol versions.not a speck of difference.the accent though had a very muscular and attractive look from the outside.this being also another reason to people buying th car.there isnt much of a difference though.its still the same old look of the original accent except that it has a better engine under the hood.never judje anything by the outside right?the look being the same as that of the petrol versions it is hard to differentiate between the petrol and the diesel versions.the looks being the same though there isnt much to write about the exterior.

INTERIOR-

the interior is very disappointing though.the dash board is very well designed.the airconditioner vents and the look of the CD player all makes it look the front very nice.the instrumentation is also a real fancy one.you have your speedometer, rpm meter ,fuel meter, engine temperature meter, but with a n inclusion of a digital meter for temperature of internal environment and something else too.i couldnt make out what it was or I have forgotten.the space in front is managable even though not ideal for a large amounts of comfort I didnt like it as I felt a little cramped up in it.

the back is even worse.you get the feel of a maruti esteem when you sit at the back.the space has been sacrificed to good boot space.but isnt the passenger's comfort more important?the back feels really jamed and very cramped when three people sat at the back.even though the car does look wide from the outside that space is fairly small on the inside.as I own and ikon 1.6 which basically felt like a bedroom at the back and the front the accent was very disappointing regarding leg space.those leg cramps ought to bother you now.the roof height isnt too great to.like I said the back feel like the maruti esteem.the upholstery isnt too great too.it does feel a bit like a bathroom mat but doing it up with some good leather interiors should make it feel nice.

THE RIDE-

the ride was nice except for the space in the car.it didnt let me enjoy the car to its full extent.the powerful diesel engine copes up with the petrol cars of today very well and accelerated way beyond the ford ,mitsubishi and maruti competition.the power steering is light and the drive was good.the power is good enough to catch up with the all popular esteem petrol engines.

OVERALL-

the car has a good engine if you look at it from that point of view.a good engine means a good ride and maximum fun.but wait there is always a downside to these cars.the interior space.that being terrible left a bad taste in my mouth about this car.i guess the company came into india when korea went bankrupt I guess leaving no money to redo the interiors.but the sales of this diesel version need to pick up.the engine is superior but the space inside is pathetic.i would definitely suggest them to redo it as each generation is getting taller and bigger.
