2 years back when I visited hypercity kunthanagali mall, they convinced me to join their loyalty program. Unlike any other loyalty program here we have to pay 200 INR to join the program. And they assured me I will get 200 rupees worth points on my card once activated.

But to my surprise I was given only 100 points. I didn't take it seriously, still visiting the mall and making purchases. After one year I accumulated INR 320 worth points, meanwhile I stopped going to the mall because of work reasons and timings. One fine day I got a message saying that the points will expire in few days please visit and make a purchase to redeem the points.

I visited the mall 10 days past the expiry date, Checked the points with the customer care and they said I have INR 2 worth points only on my card. I asked them why the points expiry days are just 365 and why this was not informed before while joining the program.

Also I mentioned that initially they cheated me 100 INR worth points, and now the expiry erased all the points. The customer care officials were not helpful, I got mad and I teared the card in front of them. I walked out of the mall without making a purchase.

Also remember hypercity points are not equal to rupees, ie 1 point is not equal to 1 rupee.

After 6 months few months back I got a message stating that they credited me 400 bonus points for whatever reason, I can visit and use the points on my next purchase. So I went and bought a small things and redeemed the points worth INR 225 or something. Though I recovered my initial investment of 200 INR, I am not at all happy with my visits there.

I would never suggest hypercity to my friends, because of following reasons.

  1. Loyalty program is literally a cheating program

  2. Points expiry is baseless and not informed one.

  3. Parking you have to pay, they wont deduct the parking charges on the bill, instead they say they will add loyalty points. God knows how many points they add.

  4. Prices are too high, especially their home shop.

  5. worst meat section with dirty floor and bad odor.

  6. Putting near to expiry products on sale. Not everybody check the expiry date.

Better to avoid this kind of money minded malls. Better visit D-Mart which is near.
