A shopper's nightmare!

Customers like me come to a place like hypercity for convenience and assuming that it is a one stop solution for the entire family’s shopping needs . This is on an assumption that it will save time and will be an enjoyable outing for the family as well.


However , it is sad to note how the above assumption is simply a myth especially in the case of hypercity. I have been a regular customer of hypercity in Meenakshi mall ever since it has existed . Recently I had come there along with my family for purchasing my monthly groceries. The bill came up to 11000/- odd. I came home to the disgusting realisation that one of the numerous plastic carry bags was logged with some liquid and that all the other contents of the carry bag were wet, wetting my dress and car boot in the bargain.


After having patiently cleaning the liquid , I realised that the Clorox bottle that I bought among the other numerous things had a small crack in the cap. The entire contents of the bottle was empty which meant a loss of Rs. 375/-.I decided to go back to the store to return the same. But I was blamed and targeted by the so called customer care department . They declared the mistake was mine and that I would have broken it after I purchased it from the store .


I had interacted with Mr. Patel or patil and Ashok ( the supervisor) I  guess  . They made me wait for 1.5 hours in the store and finally I got frustrated and left since my 2.5 years old son was hungry and sleepy waiting .


My questions were very simple and straight forward:




  1. My house is just 1.5 km away from meenakshi mall . How can it break in transit ?




  2. When I have bought items worth 11000/- am I expected to examine every product I take to the minutest point of any cut in the lid.Then why does the store keep damaged products for display?




  3. It could also be the mistake of the person who packed the items.




  4. If I have bought things worth 11000/- would I try take advantage of the store just for 375 rupees?






Please understand that this is not about the money here , it is about the principals that you follow as an organisation . This particular incident has definitely been a very bitter one for me especially because of the way it was handled .


In the same list of item , I had bought a remote control car for my son from the toy section which costed around 800 odd. The remote of the car did not have the antenna and hence was not working and we took it back the very same day along with the Clorox. The sales person , her name was sandhya , did not even apologise for the inconvenience caused  . She was trying to do some things with the car and trying to charge it etc. Then she did not give me a new car . she gave me the same old car with a new antenna fitted and said to me very confidently that the car needs to be charged and then it would work perfectly . We came home and my charged it and yet it wouldn’t work. So again (phew) we had to go back to hypercity only to understand that sandhya is on off since it was her b’day.Anyways we finally got a new car in exchange . And after all this drama was over , my son had lost the excitement of getting a new car , He was doubtful if this one also may be a non functional one .


Now look at the inconvenience caused to a customer despite being a regular customer and buying things worth 11000/-.




  1. The so called one stop solution shop made me visit them 3 times .




  2. I had to spend that much more on petrol and parking (around 40X3=120/ for parking alone.)




  3. They made me wait in the store for 1.5 hours on a Saturday evening leaving my 2.5 year old child sleepy and hungry.






Please note that remote cars and Clorox is sold in other stores as well . And  even a local small shop near my house provides better customer service than your big store .


I think it important to bring this to your notice .


Not expecting anything from  you and your organisation at all .


Frustrated customer of hypercity.


Will never shop with you guys.
