I have been a prepaid subscriber of hutch Delhi for over 5 years now. And it would definitely have not been more than a year if LNP(Local Number Portability) were there in place. Only because I cannot change my phone number I am sticking with this service provider and am eagerly waiting for LNP to get even with this(mis)organization.


In my opinion, all private mobile service providers have one thing in common - tendency to loot the subscribers on one pretext or the other. And more so with the prepaid subscribers. And Hutch seems to be the trend setter in this arena.


There have been innumerable instances of excess billing and deficiency in services on my connection and if I start writing all those here, I will need to write it in 3-4 parts(there's a size limit on single review). The worse is that none of the issues have been fixed by Hutch till date. The customer service is pathetic. They simply function like courier guys who forward every of your complaints to the'concerned department' but would never let you speak to the'concerned department'. Their supervisors are always busy on'another call' that does not end even in one hour - I have actually held my customer service calls for so long many times waiting to be able to speak to their supervisor only to be told that they will call me back in some time that ranges from half an hour to 24 hours at different occasions. But I have never received any call back for any of the issues.


And all my complaints would have been marked 'closed as resolved' on hutch's records without informing me of the same and they won't have any explaination on any of the issues as to how the matter got resolved.


The nodal officer doesnot answer the calls, voice mailbox is full and emails only gather dust in his/her mailbox. No number of reminders will be able to fetch a response.


I visited Hutch shop to deliver a complaint in writing, they refused to acknowledge receipt giving weird reasons. I kept sitting there in front of the official saying that I won't go without getting receipt of delivery of this letter and that fellow could understand the seriousness of my statement only after 2 hours. Yes I actually sat there in front of him like a statue for 2 hours.


Recently GoI directed all mobile telecom service providers to verify the identity of prepaid subscribers. And Hutch's way of verifying the identity of a subscriber is ask for copies of identity documents - thats it. Even if you have submitted earlier, just give again whether genuine or forged they won' care, they won't verify. Just give them documents. Hutch disconnected services of my phone without informing me anything in this regard even when I had already submitted my identity documents more than 4 years ago.


Well just to cut the story short - probably BSNL / MTNL would be better than Hutch.


My advice to all is straight - don't buy hutch.
