I went to see HumTum with my friends on the fifth day and it turned out to be a complete success for me.

The movie starts with an interview of Karan Kapoor (Saif), who has launched his new book, HumTum. The reporters ask him questions on why he wrote such a book and one of them guessed that it was somehow related with his own life (duh). Then starts the flashback, Rhea (Rani Mukherjee) is leaving for New York and coincidentally Karan is on the same plane sitting in the neighboring seat. After about 3 hrs, they introduce themselves and decide to go roam around in Amsterdam, where the plane halts. They get to be close friends and then, Karan’s flirting character gets him to kiss Rhea. Since then they get to be amazing enemies.

Life continues for both of them and they both keep on bumping into each other until they become friends again. In one of their meetings Karan comes to know that Rhea is getting married to Abhishek Bachchan (truly surprising appearance). They both get married and Karan and Rhea don’t meet for another 3 years.

They meet again in Paris where Karan has gone to meet his father (Rishi Kapoor) and also to write his book HumTum. When they meet again Karan finds out that that Rhea has lost her husband. (You might call that the climax)

When they meet again in Mumbai, Karan tries to cheer up Rhea to such an extent that he even gets his friend, Mihir (Jimmy Shergil) to take her out. By now Rhea is falling in love with Karan. All three of them meet for Mihir’s birthday along with Karan’s new girlfriend, Diana (Isha Kopikar). Mihir and Diana’s first meeting here gets them together and soon they get married. Rhea comes to know of Karan’s plan to get her and Mihir together and she hates him for that. Mihir tells her that he knows that Karan loves her and that they should not hide it from each other. That night Karan and Rhea get together and both of them are completely in love. At Mihir’s wedding, Karan feels that they should get married not because they are in love but because he feels what has happened is a big mistake. Rhea disapproves and leaves for Paris because she believes that if what has happened is a mistake then she doesn’t want to make another mistake by marrying him (whatever…).

Karan’s Dad returns to Mumbai and tells Karan not to make a mistake by leaving Rhea. Bang…. Karan leaves for Paris where he doesn’t find Rhea. END OF FLASHBACK. He tells the reporters (who are still listening to his story) that this is his unfinished love story. While leaving, Rhea meets Karan and they get together.

Well… that’s the story filled up with a lot of jokes and a lot of love. Trust me… its way better than what you have read in this review. Though it has been stretched a lot you can call it a romantic comedy. The songs are good and go quite well with the story.
