The plot has shares of DDLJ, mixed with the obscenities and vulgarity of today's times that cannot differentiate love from lust, faking a sacrifice for paying it forward! Is it so easy to just gift a car, or for a good-for-nothing college failure to earn the full cost(?70, 000) of a designer lehnga, that fakes the original?
In the second half of the film, the male protagonist has to contend with Angad, the suitor for Kavya. Almost as an afterthought, a story in weaved about how Kavya's sister fell into a love trap only to be ditched, as a counter-argument for the father's being chary of Kavya's overtures with Humpty. Even Humpty's friends were the most mediocre performers. In fact, they could have appeared more decent and classy. Poor does not equal to cheap, (neither is cheap, stray college bums who are yet to grow up, a way of showing that you are hep) and the two, Shonty and Poplu did appear very cheap and vulgar in their acting.
What prompted Kavya's father to reject Angad in favour of Humpty? Or even, what became of the fine gentleman who is handsome, teetotaler, meritorious and a suave man? Did the director of the movie not feel his audience intelligent enough to deserve to know Angad's fate? Why did Sidharth Shukla even agree to do this film, in which his role is unceremoniously truncated?
Such a film could only be directed by someone other than Karan Johar, and being producer of such a shoddily directed film does not do Karan much good. While FIFA World Cup has raised the bar for entertainment, wasting money on this pathetic movie, that has redefined'bad', is lamentable. Please save your money, and don't make the multiplexes richer, selling high priced ticket and junk food to make up for the lack of an unwholesome movie. AVOID.
