X:~BatTle Of the SeXeS~:x. Review on Hum Tum

I am back…Might be a little rusted but finally I have come back with yet another Movie Review. I have seen many many movies, just haven’t been able to pen down my thoughts.

Finally took a break from regular busy days and went in to see HUM TUM (houseful!).

That decision turned out to be a great one…I had already fell in love with the cute funny comic strips [check it out: https://downloads.movies.indiatimes.com/ht/archive.html ]

::..! HUM TUM !..:: (you and me)

Story is clichéd and simple … Guy meets Girl in an airplane {Hum Apke Hai Koun}, They become friends {Mujhse Dosti Karogei}, Guy and Girl reunite @ Girl’s wedding {Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai}, Girl and Guy reunite again to finally realize that they are in love, but they never declare it. They finally reunite at the launch of Guy’s Comic Novel (oh yeah a novel .. haha!) {Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge}

That’s the story. Simple yet cute, romantic, funny, and a bit long.

::..! ACTING !..::

* Saif Ali Khan in the role of a silly, immature, funny Boy (Karan Kapoor) is the BEST! This role couldn’t have been done by anybody else… he was just too good.. and too funnY!

* Rani Mukherji is also a plus. I am finally glad to see her picking good films and looking gorgeous. In all her hairstyles – she looks fabulous! From the Ghulam days to now…anyone can see that she has improved very much. She is one of the best actresses we have now.

* Kiron Kher is just tooooo hilarious to watch. She just takes in the role. First, she acted as kakima in Devdas – and woah! Complete Bengali now she takes the role of a “theit” Punjaban. You’ll just love her (trust me!)

* Rishi Kapoor is alright, He needs to cut his bear and act like he is sober. He didn’t much in the film but still in any scene he acted – it seemed he was drunk.

* Rati Aghinotrilooks pretty good for her age. She doesn’t have much to do either. She is alright just a bit annoying with “shut up karan”.

* Other special appearances by Jimmy Shergil (he is so decent and nice), Abhishek Bachchan (looks handsome and proves yet again that he is best actor in this Industry), Isha Kopikar (I think she acted drunk in all the scenes) … these little surprises just add a plus to the movie.

::..! MUSIC !..::

I bought this album a while back and didn’t find anything great about the CD. But after watching the movie I can’t seem to stop singing “Gore Gore”. Best of the lot are “Ladki Kyon”, “Hum Tum” is a very romantic number and sung beautifully by Babul Supriyo & Alka Yagnik, another song that was good is “Mere Dil Vich Hum Tum” by Rishi Rich (it seems he is slowly taking over the India after conquering U.K. & U.S). Song that I just couldn’t stand “Chak De” was just too long and wasn’t needed in the movie. I ll give the album {3.5/5}

Overall, I found the movie to be a nice change from all the flops and bad movies I watched. This movie had all the masala stuff plus does it ever get old – the fight between the sexes.

First Half is quick, funny, nice, full of surprises – but Second half, is dragged for tooo long and too many songs and too many “reunions”. So it got a bit annoying towards the end… just waiting for the movie to end… but no.. .some more songs.. some more useless scenes. And the whole “Travel from India – Amsterdam – U.S. – Paris” just gets very irritating. But with all the Location changing one thing that struck me on a plus side was the “Hair Style” changes – that was a good touch: Rani with short – medium – Long Straight Serious look. Saif – the whole Tom Cruise Hair cut was just hilarious to watch.

The Promotion dude should get some kind of an award :: He/she has done a great job of marketing this movie everywhere – from the comic strips posted everywhere, then to Saif being everywhere on T.v (interview after interview) then.. Of course, the sudden craze (2 episodes) over the HUM TUM cartoon on Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi.

Go watch the movie it’s funny, sweet, romantic, cute movie… !
