By now everyone has seen this beautiful serial. I would not move from my living room when this one came on. And I guess everyone else too has missed this serial since it went off air........now more than a year has gone by.
With a starkly realistic theme, Hum Pardesi....also brought in a VERY talented cast who played their characters so good that I still having trouble remembering their real names. I should specially mention performances by Ashish Chowdhary (Rahul), Kartika Rane (Mallika) and Perizaad Zorabian (Maya).
Since Hum Pardesi.....went off air, there has been no other NRI-based serial on air that holds my interest. I wish it had stayed on. The end was pretty abrupt and not a very satisfying conclusion....Rahul gets thrown out on his ear by Maya and comes crawling back to Mallika and she takes him back??!! Where is her backbone?? She forgot and forgave so quickly??
The story could have continued on their (Rahul and Mallika's) gradual acceptance of the situation and the status of their relation as it stood that day. It would have made for a one heck of a good story continuation, but the creators decided that everyone had enough (how wrong! how awfully wrong!) and they stopped right when I thought the serial would now show them getting back together. Not a quick 'I'm sorry' kind-of tears from Rahul and 'It's OK' kind of acceptance from Mallika.......come on guys.
And the biggest wonder is that Sony did not have any re-runs of this one where they have reruns of that other popular series Aahat. If Sony people are reading this, then even if this is the only one request they get about this serial, they should seriously getting together with the original team of Hum Pardesi... and making a 'some time later' version of the serial. PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PRETTY PLEASE!!
That's all I guess I can ask for. I miss them all.... (sob, sob)...
