Kuch Bhi ''Kuch Bhi'' means ''Anything'' in hindi

Jhamu Sughand, the celebrated producer, with hits like Bombay and Lagaan to his credit would create an ordinary film like this is unbelievable. I guess he has tried to make a comedy film out of the extra-ordinary lofty cast. For this he has taken the help of the director David Dhawan. The question is - has he succeeded? Starring Aishwariya Rai, Amitabh Bachhan, Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt, this film has all the elements to astonish you. And guess what the angry young men - Amitabh, Sanjay and Ajay Devgan have tried a comedy - now that surely is a comedy!

Plot

Munna Bhai (Sanay Dutt) is a big name in the Mumbai underworld. Although he looks like a mental case along with his crime mates Satish Kaushik and Anu Kapoor. While chasing his staunch enemy Pillai (Ashish Vidyarthi), he meets Komal (Aishwariya Rai) in her dance class. He instantly ends the Chicken Run and forgets about Pillai since he is now in love with Komal. Munna bhai loses his nefarious touch because of Komal. So he goes to Dr. Rastogi (Amitabh Bachchan) for a check-up. Dr. Rastogi is a reputed doctor, who is an ordinary person and also happens to be Komal's elder brother (why not her father? - looks like Amitabh still wants to play it young). Komal also has a boy friend, Raja (Ajay Devgan). Munna vexes Dr. Rastogi because he believes only Dr. Rastogi can cure him. So how does the story continue? The confrontation between Munna and Raja happens pretty soon. One is a don. The other is a instructor at a bowling alley. Both play the game of wits and try to outdo each other but who succeeds and who fails is for you to find out ( it might remind you of David's previous movie Deewana Mastana). Dr. Rastogi is caught in the middle. He does not want his sister married to a noted criminal but at the same time he fears Munna Bhai.

Technically speaking ....

Cinematography is a welcome change. There are no shots from the European region (favourite set of David Dhavan. Most of them are shot in Mumbai and a few in Malayasia. Music is a big dud! Anu Malik can not be expected to come up with hits more than once a year and of course for that he needs inspiration from European music. Though the number ''Yeh Kya ho raha hai,Yeh kya ho raha hai!'' is a bit funny - thanks to Amitabh!( You will also find background tunes copied from the film Judwaa)Lyrics are impossible! Looks like they hired a school student for the https://lyrics. I can assure you can get plenty of time to smoke out and breaks for chatting with your GF/BF.

My view and why Kuch bhi?

Amitabh has perfomed his part quite well. We should all accept the fact that he is no more the angry young man and can not play the roles of yesteryears. His comedy is commendable.

Aishwariya Rai will loose her no. 1 position after this movie. She looks like a smiling barbie doll and her role has been mediocre. I know I will be blasted by all her fans but just FYI I am her fan too.

Sanjay Dutt's role is quite challenging ... to play the part of a don plus a comedian. He has played his part well. Would blame the director for not doing his part sincerely with Sanjay baba.

Ajay Devgun's emotionless face can be seen again. I feel he is more suited for action-packed films. I am a big fan of David Dhavan but am now I am not sure for how long. This film is far far away from reality.

What needs gulping before digestion:

  1. A big don turning into a mice just because of a beautiful girl ( so what if it was Miss World?).

  2. An ordinary guy like a bowling instructor trying to take paanga with the Don.

  3. Don entering the operation theatre every now and then. 4. Don day dreaming of the girl only when he is about to murder someone.

  4. Amitabh trying to become a don himself towards the end of the movie.

  5. Main villains (Pillai and his brothers who keep attempting on Munna bhai) are left with just a slap on their face.

  6. Such big dons carrying illegal pistols. 8. The songs in which Ajay, Sanjay and Aishwariya get together. ....

The list goes on but if I liss them all then either I will have to go to the comment page or you probably would term this review as too long. Total timepass movie to be watched preferably on VCR so that the songs can be forwarded. See it only if you are a fan of one of the kalakaars. Remember I told you so.
