A thoughtful emotional drama. Review on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

If you have read the previous reviews I have written, you would have realised that I put the point/my opinion down straight. However, I cannot do that with this review.

Most of my reviews are from the brain and the heart. This one is written directly from the heart;

As this movie is one of the few that has touched my heart. Thinking about this movie gives me a soft feeling, emotion, and with this I start my review.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is the tale of Nandini (Aishwarya Rai), the daughter of Vikram Gokhale, a music teacher. She is a playful girl who teases and is like one of us. Enter Sameer (Salman Khan), a boy from Italy, come to learn SANGEET from Nandini's father. At first she teases him, and does not like him much, but then starts to love him. They both love each other and it seems so perfect. It is an image of true love with are given there (we think that it is true love, however we are proved wrong.) Just as everything seems to be going correctly, Vanraj (Ajay Devgan) the son of a famous advocate enters with a PROPOSAL OF MARRIAGE for Nandini. When Nandini's father comes to know of her and Sameer, he sends him away and gets Nandini married to Vanraj. Sameer goes away and both he and Nandini are heartbroken.

It is Vanraj and Nandini's SUHAAG RAAT and as Vanraj tries to get closer to Nandini, she tells him she is tired and goes to sleep. Vanraj tells her that he cannot stand lies and asks of her never to lie to him.

The next day, her naukar from her parent's house gives her many letters that Sameer has sent her. As she is reading one of them happily, Vanraj reads another. He shouts at her telling her that he cannot stand lies and asking her why she lied to him.

When he has calmed down, Vanraj can only think of one solution, to re-unite Nandini and Sameer and to give up his love. His father tries to persuade him not to do this, but to control Nandini and MAKE her stay with him. He asks him if he will be able to let go of someone he loves so much. Vanraj tells his father that his love will grow greater when he sees Nandini happy. His father then agrees to let him carry on with his decision.

So Nandini and Vanraj go to Italy in search for Sameer. Here, Vanraj and Nandini become friends. Nandini wonders why Vanraj is so quiet and why he is letting his love go to someone else. At last, they track Sameer down and it is that last parting scene that made my eyes water. That is the scene when Vanraj lets Nandini go into the hands of someone else .

That is true love. That is true love's sacrifice. That is the love one can be proud of. That is true love.

ACTING

Salman Khan has acted well in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. However I could only say he has done average.

Aishwarya Rai has acted exceptionally well in this movie. This is the only movie (after Devdas) that I have seen her ACT in.

The stealer of the show is Ajay Devgan. He has portrayed the character extremely well and he takes most of the credit for the success of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
